Default The 200,000 mile LS400 should I buy question

So I found a car that is for sale looks amazing has all its service but its from Alaska/Nebraska. Recent repairs would be the starter, timing belt and tires. Its been maintained well I have not seen the car but what do y'all think it would be worth? Should I be worried about the high miles?

I sold my Blk/Blk 99 about a year ago, 204,000 miles, for $3K. It was in excellent condition with the exception of some superficial damage to the R pass quarter panel.

Why did you end up selling it? Do you think a 200k mile car is ok to get?

At the time I had the '06 430 and the "99 400 and a 1 car garage. Summer was just around the corner and I didn't want the Blk 400 sitting in the Az sun.
As long as you're able to turn some wrenches yourself I wouldn't be worried about the mileage. Assuming, of course, it has a good service history....

The key factor is good service maintenance in the past. 200K isn't "bad" so depending what your goals are for the car, this may be a good deal. At this stage there will likely be some items that will need attention.

The current owner has all the paperwork for the service history to date on the car. I have to look it all over when I go to see it to verify. I am debating on this car or maybe holding out for a 430.

I'd hold out for the 430. Once you buy this a better car will hit the market, never fails.

I’ll share my anecdote here. I bought a 200k mile 400 last year for $2500, the same hour the seller posted it on Craigslist. I ended up giving it to my sister who’s currently in med school because I also have a 430 but that 400 has been incredible. Only thing I’ve done to it since is the lower ball joints, which appeared to be original. The car runs and shifts as smooth as any car I’ve ever driven, and that is high praise. Point is, if this is a clean car the miles are irrelevant on these older Lexus’s.

Heres some pics when I got it. Wheels are from previous owner

2500 I paid for 247k miles and complete service records.Miles dont matter if price is good and maintained. So I was taught here and its very good advice IMO.In fact, miles scared me too,but surprise,LS400 is not your average car,its overbuilt.IMO.
LS430 also has stellar reliability ratings.

It would all depend how clean the undercarriage is.

What is that spot on the front quarter panel in that picture?

If the roads up there are salted to any capacity, I would avoid that car for the headaches of possible exhaust corrosion and suspension component corrosion.

I recently purchased a pretty immaculate on the body and interior 99' w/ 147k from Ohio and found out my Y-pipe was deteriorated enough to produce two holes where the heatshields clamp to the pipe sections with the stainless clamps. I currenty fixed it with JB mufflerweld which is holding fine, but I am looking for an OEM replacement in good shape from the west or southwest before the next winter hits.

Not sure what is under the tape. I am hoping to get photos of the engine bay and underneath.

I am passing on the car here is the ad if anyone is in Phx and is looking for a car. They will take $3,500 but its listed higher (well that is what I agreed on but it probably changed).
