Default 2007 rx 400h tpms

I just joined the Lexus Ranks with a 2007 RX 400H - very nice car - wife is loving it.

I do have a few items i need to work out though - Any help on disabling the TPMS system until i buy new tires would be very appreciated, I have checked all tires, they are all at proper pressure, I hit the reset under the dash, i hit the 2nd set button on pass side. Les Shwab says 3 of 4 sensors are bad (prob trying to upsell my wife) - i have a hard time believing 3 of 5 are bad as the warning light was not on when i bought the car and drove a couple hundred miles before it came on. I unplugged the TPMS control box under the dash above the glove box and it persists.

Any help from the more experienced?

TY

You checked the spare correct? I had same issue recently. Holding reset under dash until tire light stopped flashing and then waiting an additional minute with key in ON position cured mine.

There doesn't seem to be a way to disable the TPMS. Be sure to check you spare tire as previously stated because the TPMS system monitors the spare. The batteries in the wheel sensors start going out after 10+ years, so that could be the case.

Take the car to another tire place other than Les Shwab and see what they say. By me there is a tire store chain called Discount Tire that will check them for free. Discount Tires goes by the name of America's Tire in California.

I did check the spare- sorry i didnt mention that

So the tires were almost at the wear bars, today i went down and got a new set of tires today and just put normal valvestems on ( 600 for tires + 350 for sensors was a bit much at once right after paying for the car)
I have the sensors on my desk now - thinking of replacing the batteries in them and gluing them inside the spare (for now - until i can just buy new ones done properly).

any feedback? - yes i know not ideal but 200-350$ right now is just not happening and i want that light off !

When the car cannot detect a signal from the tire sensor (like when the battery is dead), the TPMS light in the dash will blink for maybe a minute when you first start the car and then light up constantly. Does your TPMS light blink?

While you can replace the battery in the sensor, it would be a lot less work to just remove the TPMS light bulb in the dash since you intend to get new sensors anyway. The wheels will probably have to be rebalanced when you do install sensors.

The $350 sounds high considering the tire had to come off the rim for the new one.

A lot less work is to place piece of black tape over TPMS light. Then take chances on tire going flat and being caught place unpleasant.
Wise way is to get it done right and be Ok for the next 7 or so years with functional TPMS.

Remove the light in the dash??? Both the Low tire pressure light plus the master warning light are probably illuminated in addition to the message in the display.
