Default Goodby My Friends

Just sold my 02 LS 430 UL yesterday. It had100500 miles, and what I thought was excellent condition. Why you say, I have owned it for 10 years and just thought it was time for something newer and a little different. I have thoroughly enjoyed the car and I know I will miss it . It has been nice being part of this fourm and I want to thank you all for the helpful information. Just in case you're interested it sold for 6300.00 on the first day by the first person to see it. There were others on the list in case the sale fell through.
I have my eye on a two year old Avalon.
Again thank you all and nothing but the best for all your LS430's.

Good luck, and break a leg with the replacement.

I know what you mean as no car that we have is newer than 2011, so when I drive rentals and loaners, I can't deny there are many features I wish we had in our cars...have fun in the new ride!

Sorry to see you go. Glad your looking into an Avalon though because those are great cars as well. I thought about getting one myself and it would have been my second option had I not found the perfect LS for me. Good luck on your search and feel free to stop by the forum if your ever feeling home sick for your Lexus.

Mind if I ask "why"?
I mean I had a 1999 Camry XLE and that was nice and until my grand daughter totaled it, I looked at Avalon's and almost bought a 2007 I think it was and then my 04 LS430 UL came up. It had all the Avalon had and more (to me). Yours had only 100,000 on it and years left. Was it fear of impending cost?
Don't get me wrong, I like the Avalon's. And when my 04 gives up the ghost, I will probably look at Avalon's just due to cost and close enough to a very nice luxury ride. Not a real fan of the look of the newer LS models.

Best of luck, let us know of your impressions of the Avalon.

Funny, the only car I really consider as a replacement is an avalon too.

I think the "big body" but FWD and v6 are the selling points of the avalon, plus the new ones look excellant. I do think the LS430 doesnt have as much body roll, atleast of a 2007-ish avalon, newer ones are probably nice and firm. And its very hard to replace that 4.3L v8 thats smooth as butter, 3k rpm and you are doing what a v6 needed 5k+ to reach.

I would think an ES350 would be the crossover...

You know that's a down grade right? I started with a 95 Avalon and always thought it was a baby Lexus. Also had the newer body style 2005. But no, not even close. They're still nice cars and have some great features and comforts, but they're not an LS430.
An Avalon will not have the same ride/comfort as the LS. They only cost 1/2 as much brand new so there really is no comparison.
Hope you can find a great replacement that you're happy with.

I like the smaller turning radius of rear wheel drive cars like the LS430.
My previous front wheel drive ES300 and V6 Camry had an undesirable turning radius.

Thought I'd get back and give an update.
I purchased a 2015 Avalon Limited with 12,500 miles and Factory Certified. It is simply a wonderful car with a powerful V-6 engine. It is just like brand new with not a defect anywhere.
For those of you who quickly say an Avalon is a downgrade from a ls430, I would say you have not experienced an Avalon. It is not as quite, or as smooth riding as the Lexus, but it ends there in every other way. Now I'm not here to diss my beloved 430 as it was a great car and I thoroughly enjoyed owning it. It was just time for an upgrade and get something a little more stylish. I was fortunate not to have any major repairs, except for the actuators, which I did myself. I am getting to the age where I did not want to deal with the potential problems including the air suspension. So I'm very happy with my decision and have no regrets. Wishing you all the best and believe it or not I still enjoy reading this forum.

Thanks for the update and for your participation in the forum. Glad the new to you Avalon is working out for you. The newer Avalons are very nice cars and likely to be super reliable. If I was going to replace my LS430 with a sedan it would likely be an Avalon or and ES350. Good luck!
