I would not buy Goodyears for my GX.

I am still on the cheapo Goodyear Wranglers the dealer put on my car when I bought it. Took multiple visits to tire shop to get them to balance and they're still not perfect. Traction is just OK. I guess it's a good thing the treadwear has been good but honestly I wish I'd burn through them so I could get something better.

I'm sure the new one is a different blend/construction but I'll pass.

Which type of GY is on your GX?? Take a pic of sidewall if you’re not sure.

I had Goodyear Wrangle Armor AT with Kevlar on my last truck and they were good tires. Very well behave in wet weather. They were quiet and wore well. But they are expensive and for the money, there are other tires that are better (in snow/ice and even wet) and wear better.

Gets great reviews. I wonder about the mileage part, a couple of things. the 37% wasn't compared to any other tire, it was to an average of 3 others. could be 3rd out of 4 and still be 37% better than the average of the 3. not probable, just stating possibility. I'd like to see what the actual values of each were. Second, how much of a traction performance hit is there? One of the links noted a mention worthy decrease in traction when not going straight. Even distribution can do this.

Regardless of the questions, this tire does get excellent reviews in articles. Are there any forums with comments?

Well, i think Consumer Reports rated these Goodyears as having not so good rolling resistance.......so, i am kinda worried about that. I would consider this tire as being a "mild" AT tire given its tread pattern and design. Tire depth is average at 12/32". Well, this tire is standard on Tacomas with TRD package and TRD PRO...so, Tacoma forums are full of commentary on these tires...and as expected, you see good and bad comments.

Thanks...but my GX is still only 1500 miles old. So, stock tires are still brand new...hate to throw perfectly good tires away! I do so much want to upgrade the tires though....

You can post the old tires up forsale on local Craigslist. I’m sure someone will buy them.

I drove my new GX directly from the dealer to Discount Tire ... got credit for trading in the POS Bridgestone's that Lexus and Toyota impose on their customers.

Yeah, that’s a thought. Last time i checked, my local Discount Tire does not give credit for old tires (no matter what age). But will check.

Hi, tigmd99!

Our stores will sometimes offer trade-in credit that can be applied towards a new purchase. How much depends on the condition of the tires as well as the demand for the said product in your area.

Generally speaking though, you can usually capture more $$$ selling privately though it certainly wouldn't hurt to see what your local Discount Tire can offer!

Have done this 4-times ... drove from new delivery to Discount Tire ... less than 100 miles on tires ... always provided reasonable offset to new tire purchase. Probably store dependent on this being a better option than going "craigslist" ... and probably based on what replacement tires are purchased ... for me, typically Michelin Defender LTX.
