Next Gen IS with BMW I-6?
I'm just going to leave this right here...
(By the way, I love these renderings)

Best Car Magazine in Japan is reporting that the next-generation Lexus IS sedan will be offered with the same BMW Inline-6 turbo engine that powers the all-new Toyota Supra.
The I6 engine, which is rated at 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque in the Supra, would be one of four engines for the Lexus sedan — a 2.0L turbo, 2.4L turbo, and 2.5L hybrid engine would also be available based on region.
Best Car also reports that the IS is unlikely to change in size, and will weigh approximately 3,395 lbs. For referenece, the current IS tips the scales at 3,737 lbs.
(Finally, the magazine reiterates the rumor that a next-generation IS F sedan will be resurrected with the twin-turbo V6 engine from the LS flagship.)

Kinda wonder if Toyota is ending combustion engine development in the near future and switch their focus to electrification. A 335hp 6cylinder engine is well within Toyota's capabilities to develop, or simply remove a Turbo from the 3.5TT.

Makes sense. Again I haven't driven it but it was at the dealers last Friday--I have a hunch BMW learned and the new 3 series is better than the last. Maybe this Dec. (PA state inspection) it will be interesting to get a 330i loaner. I wonder if Toyota would ever branch out into the S engines, and then collaborate? Just not sure how service would work, imho I can't see a Toyota tech working on a BMW engine. Not that they can't, it's like loving iOS and now having to work with Android. The other way around is probably easier.

Those are the most believable renderings I've seen yet, but they are using the old car's door handles and the RC F Sport's wheels, which I struggle with.
Anyway...
Somehow I doubt that Lexus would make a relatively non-exclusive model with a BMW powertrain. This also conflicts with the idea that there are new Lexus-specific 2.0 and 2.4 turbo engines. Those would presumably pair up to Lexus transmissions.
That being said, the IS and Supra were sort of related in the past, so perhaps this isn't as far-fetched as I am thinking. If they made the entire IS line out of BMW components, it would make more sense.

I am really skeptical on this one, maybe our resident expert @Carmaker1 will chime in, but havent seem em online for a while.
That rendering has Guilia taillamps, but if the engine is imported from baveria LOL. Lexus cant beat em, so they joined em lol
I kid however, more then anything I thought Toyota/Lexus has a huge picture of engine options they are too launch in the next few MY, so I`d assume they`d have something ready to go in the IS. If anything the current 4 pot, and some sort of v6 FIed and electrification.
who knows, I`d expect BMW earnings call to hint at a contract large in size

This is comical! Lol
what will all the BMW haters say now?
What was the point of Lexus developing the 3.5 TT V6 and where is the LC F already with the TT V8. I have never seen a company drop the ball as bad as Lexus has done in past 5-10yrs.
BMW this year alone is bringing out all new Z4, X5, X7, 3series, 8series, refreshed 7series, all new X3M/X4M.
What new products does Lexus have? Lol - I think they just gave up.

If that's close to what it's going to look like, well... that's a BMW side profile right there. They don't want to drop the V6tt in there? Nothing wrong with that inline six, but it's definitely going to upset the IS folks.

"...and reported to weigh approximately 3395 pounds..." So they have very little this early on but have an exact weight pegged? Sure...

those renderings suck.
The butt looks as awkward and retarded as the 2003 accord, where it looks top heavy with the taillights too low.
Also hate the side lines that terminate at the rear door handles, and then start again below the door handle.

What makes many of these renderings somewhat appealing is the fact that the car is always lowered and with blacked out windows. Do that with any car and it always improves things, but gives a false lead.
