Default Yellow/hazy headlights - polished today

I have a 2005 so no complaining that they're yellow after 14 years of service. About 2 years ago I tried rubbing it out with a few different products (3M, Meguiars, etc) but no luck. I had tried by hand and also bought a polish pad that attaches to a hand drill and that didn't work. I decided it was worth $180-200 to have a local shop do it, but I've continued to procrastinate thinking I'd try it myself with a polisher.

With the use of a Griots random orbital polisher (bought last year for polishing water spots off a car) I went to my shelf an grabbed the same bottles of plastic polish I tried 2 years ago and 5 minutes later - literally (no taping/prep) - they looked incredibly better. I apologize I didn't take proper 'before' pics because I had to orbital out to polish a different car and on a whim I decided to do this to the GX. On one pic you can see the driver-side is done and the passenger-side is not. Compare in the pics. Next step: buy & apply a UV protectant.

Driver-side is DONE, Passenger-side is NOT DONE. Notice haze on passenger-side headlamp.

Passenger-side is now polished.

Polished. Wiped. Polished a second time. Probably total time = 6 minutes. EASY.

Can't remember what I paid but it was worth it.

Looks great. I used Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish on mine with a orbital buffer and a harbor Frud polising pad, it was the maroon one. I used the meguires spray airisol UV sealer. A twist on this guy-

I can't recall name of it, but it was a Yellow pad. I think the colors are somewhat standardized for finish ... but not 100% sure.

I had the detail guy at my shop do mine.. yours look just as good.. I’m thinking of tinting them now that they are so clean...

I just can’t decide if I want to wrap them or use a spray on.

There's a local guy who performs this service for $30/car, and that includes (his own formula of) clear coat.

Before and after pics:

It really is, especially since he's a mobile service. I can't refer this guy enough!

A friend of mine (who just had his LS 430 totaled, sadly) found him and referred me. He did two of my cars, then did two for my neighbors across the street right after they saw his work.

If you wrap them, I think it will add a protection to the lenses at least against small rocks on the road.
Also, just wanted to mention... There is a protection film for lenses that protects them from Sun rays. It's basically a replacement for a clear coat, but lasts up to 5 years. There might be a tinted one, I'm not sure though.
The video looks convincing. Have a look.

If you get an actual clear coat spray to put over them after cleaning them up it will last much longer!

I saw these covers... they come in tinted and clear. I have a hairline crack about a 1/4” long on the bottom of one of my lights and the notorious orange burn to the daytime running light reflectors... which is upsetting because I bought these new bulbs by sylivania(pictured) to get rid of the orange reflection from the amber bulbs(but it didn’t help since the amber hue is permanent.

May have to just buy new headlight assemblies.
