Intake silencer delete and oil catch can or breather filter
For my 02 gs300, I want to mod the intake for more sound so I want to delete the silencer on it. Is it safe to do that and what should be done about the vacuum line coming from the valve cover? Is a cheap catch can good or breather filter which I have also seen. Either of these benefit the engine or do they just hurt it?

Unless you are putting a turbo on, Leave it alone, Toyota engineers put alot of efforts in optimizing the intake system, they've even put a snorkel on it for cold air to be fed into the air box.

No doubt they put a lot of effort into the intake I know that I just want it that little bit louder and maybe put a catch can or something just because I don't want oil in my intake. At the moment I already removed the heat shield because it was rattling and rust out and the silencer part has a small crack on the bottom.

More sound to draw attention to a stock 2JZ-GE? You're vehicle is still going to be a turd. Replace the intake tube with another stock good one will restore some driveability. Patching it will not be helpful. Especially when the heat shield was removed.

You own a gs I'm guessing right since it's in your name? But you call it a turd. It's stock but still a 2j like that explains itself and my exhaust is modified so whatever you weren't any help. And that intake part is still fine car runs perfect.

A stock 1999 2JZGE in a GS only pulled 166hp to the wheels on a mustang dyno, may have faired better on a Dynojet at about 175-180hp, it's by no means a rocket.
"and the silencer part has a small crack on the bottom."
You stated that the resonator is leaking on the bottom, that will cause unmetered air to enter the motor without the MAF sensing it. So it's even more of a turd.
Apparently trying to help you not waste time or money was no help...
FYI This is what my recent dyno sheet shows.

I never said the car was fast but is one of the best engines made. Clearly, you don't have the same love it so that's just up to you. And its just a hairline crack my car isn't affected by it, a new one isn't cheap. I want to mod it not more factory but its whatever.

Never said the 2jz motor was bad, just the stock GE is a dynosaur compare to any modern vehicle with the same displacement.
It's your car, do as you wish. No one can stop you from being a ricer.
But just beware, that "hairline crack my car isn't affected by it" will grow due to heat from the header.
If you start noticing power loss when turning right, it's time to get a new tube.
