Default 2020 RCF losing 20 HP in some markets due to stringent emissions

Sad, but the end is near for this engine. While N/A RCF is gaining a miniscule 5 HP, it does not sound as bad as Lexus detuning the RCF for some markets to clear the emissions regulations. It makes loses 20 BHP at 451 BHP (down from 471 BHP).

That's it, am keeping my 2015 RCF for life. It's not going to get any better than this.

IMHO- Lexus would seriously have to put some major changes in a new RCF for me to jump ship on what Ive made out of my 17'. Nothing I read indicates such a move!

Hey Spam, how are ya man? At first, I thought it was something I liked, but Im NOT a fan of "Wings" on the back of any car. Of course that has little to do with the overall decision not to go for the TE RCF. If they found a way to squeeze between 550-600hp out of the F I would definitely consider it. Personally, I love the N/A V8 engine in any vehicle - most especially in something so insanely comfortable and fun to drive as the RCF. Though Im dying to test drive one with the Performance Package, to feel and see how your TVD settings are - Im perfectly content w the Premium Package I sought out in my 2017.

i have contacted corp by email. Is there anything you would like me to add? Toyota's cafe rating is the best in the industry so i dont know why they keep cutting the ***** out of this car while Domestic cars HP ratings are growing

This could be do to the calculations. Audis also had lower numbers.

Yesterday AoA finally released their 2019 full model year updates and HP for A5/S5 is now revised to 248 and 349 respectively, 4 and 5 HP lower than published for 2018. It seems to be the result of a new calculation method: "Starting with 2019 MY, rated horsepower will be derived from a single, global kilowatt (kW) metric, confirmed by an SAE horsepower test".

Edit: Disabled adblocker and read article and it looks like Lexus actually decreased power.

“ the new RC F maintains the same performance as the old one, thanks to revised gearing”
Will be this “revised gearing” , software update , that would be usable for our RCF or they are talking about a different thing?

Yes, it's also the fact for the Stinger that will be limited down this year to meet regulations. I'm sure the RCF will stay sympathic even with 20HP less. Maybe it would be a good motivation for Lexus to put a 4L V8 in this car.

Gearing won't make up for lost power. Never will. It's pretty simple arithmetic. Gearing can change torque at a given rpm. That's all. 20 hp less means top speed drops, but I suspect it also reduces carbon emissions and that's driving a lot of change.
