Default Would you buy a “4 door coupé” LC Lexus

Lexus has been absent from one of the most interesting and profitable vehicle segments. The 4 door coupé segment which many might say Mercedes invented with the introduction of the CLS in 2004 has been growing exponentially especially in the past 6 years.

I started this thread specifically to see what some enthusiast might want to see in regards to features, powertrain, and designs in the hypothetical LC500 4 door.

195.5 inch total length
116.2 inch wheelbase
75.6 inch width
56.0 inch height

The hypothetical LC500 would look very similar to a standard LC coupé, but the biggest differentiating design changes being two additional rear doors and a liftback tailgate instead of the small trunk lid used on the coupé. Also 50/50 split folding rear seats giving it cargo capacity similar to the Audi A7.

I would love to have two to three engine options to select from.
3.5l bi-turbo V6 mated to a 10 speed automatic gearbox
4.0l bi-turbo V8 mated to a 10 speed automatic gearbox
3.5l V6 Hybrid

RWD standard, AWD optional. Suggested price starting at $66,400 before destination fee and options.

Direct competitors: Audi A7, Mercedes AMG GT-4, Mercedes CLS, BMW 8 series Gran Coupé.

As an LC? No. Never. I don't even want the back seat. IMO, cars like the Porsche Panamera are among the ugliest things on the road. The CLS looks OK, but it looks more like a sedan to me. I just don't get to whole 4-door coupe thing.

I would if it looks as good as the current LC. The only problem would be that I probably can’t afford it.

I'd prefer a shooting brake/wagon sort of thing.

Very sexy LC mixed with some Ferrari FF shooting brake styling cues. Looks good though.

The current LS is not really a 4 door coupé of the LC, they share some common components underneath and hybrid power trains also the LC isn’t available with AWD the LS is.

5th generation LS is over one and a half feet longer than the LC, 800 lbs heavier than the LC. The roof is 5 inches higher as well. The LS also uses a limousine like 123” inch wheelbase. No framesless glass windows, and no liftback design.

I don’t think people shopping for a A7 or 6 series GC are cross shopping it with the rather portly LS500.*

Having a actual 4 door coupé within the Lexus brand name could bring a lot of needed attention to the brand, especially if they are able to keep the sex appeal of the LC500 coupé after adding two additional*rear doors to the design.*

Looks OK. But you lose the fastback swoop of the LC. And to me that's a good part of why I bought the car.

Personally I would prefer a mid-engine LC 500 * Note that the shooting brake and mid-engine renderings are from Rain Prisk, Junior Vehicle Artist at Ubisoft.

no im actually talking about visual
my point is there is a 4 door and its called the LS
and there is a coupe which is called the LC
and there is a SUV which is called the LX

why would you need a 4 door version of a coupe
for one its ugly like all the BMW and Audi 4door coupe things
call me old fashion but if you want a 4 door get a sedan
if you want a coupe look get a coupe

You may think 4 door coupés are ugly, but there is a large uprising demand for the segment none the less. Tesla, Porsche, BMW, Audi and Mercedes have all had a ton of success with the 4 door coupé mantra. Most of the brands I named are all on their second generations already. Lexus can sit around and rest on its laurels all it wants, but the traditional sedan is slowing dying, and people want fast, exotic looking and practical coupé looking cars that have usable backseats and rear doors.
