Strut/Shock Replacement Parts
I'm in the process of purchasing parts to replace the leaking shock/strut for my 2007 IS250 with 140K miles on it.
I plan to replace the front strut mounts along with isolators but do I need to replace the rear shock mounts as well?
#7 in this diagram. It looks like there is "rubber parts" on the top hat section, hence the question. Ideally, if not necessary, I prefer not to replace since the part is $150/ea but I also only want to do the repair once, hence the dilemma. I don't hear or feel any suspension issue at this time. Thanks in advance for your help.

For the rear shocks, no you don't need to replace parts #7 unless they're badly corroded. On 11 year old car I would replace upper mount bushings though. What's weird they're not listed in that diagram.
I would inspect front rubber boots (my 2011 were ripped) and buy parts if needed.
When you remove shocks out of the car, use a tape to mark how the top mount matches with the lower part of the shock. You will save yourself from big headache when you find out that lower pinch bolt doesn't line up correctly with the 3 top mount bolts.
You should get new cotter pins (clips) for upper control arms.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Primavera. Very helpful.
Yes, for the fronts, planning to replace the front strut mounts as the boot is completely destroyed.
I was also thinking of replacing the insulator and bump stop or is that not necessary either (for rears and just lower insulator for the fronts)?
Glad rear shock mount (#7) doesn't require replacement.

I wouldn't worry about insulators unless they're destroyed. You won't be able to see how the bump stops look until you disassemble everything. You can get new ones, they're cheap on RockAuto.

Primavera, is your IS250 AWD? Upper mount bushing for the rear is listed for AWD IS250 only on the lexus dealer site.
Mine is non-sport, RWD, with 18" wheels IS250, hence doesn't look like it comes with upper mount bushing.

Mine RWD comes with the upper rear bushings/bearings and I'm sure yours have bushings too. I've noticed they're missing on that diagram. Lift your trunk carpet and find out.

My 2008 IS350 with 156k miles needed new mounts/dust boots in the front. The rubber boot was torn and in pieces.
They are about $110 each and are PN# 48680-53031.
I got them from Bell Lexus in Arizona.
