Default Bad luck with my car this year...

Made a thread here this past spring about driving through thousands of rocks... Thread here w/pics:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...of-my-car.html

Car is a year old now and only 8k miles and a huge stray rock fell from some truck and swiped my rear fender. Nice sized dent.. Why me? Why?

Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully your string of bad luck has come to an end.

On the bright side, at least you didn't take your car into the dealership for routine maintenance and have the tech go for a joy ride.... My friend from the dealership sent this to me after it happened. (not my car)

hard to tell but it looks like GSF wheels? That a GSF?
Wow, even even if isn’t, I’d be livid.

edit; I flipped my phone up side down to look at picture, yep a GSF. Jeez, is the owner on here?

haha, I'm not sure. I haven't seen my friend for a while but have a few questions about this and who will be driving my car next time I need an oil change...

TrevorR - yeap, you have some bad luck streak going.

Regarding the GSF on its roof - dang. That car had some speed for it went airborne after swiping the curve (no damage to the lawn) and I suspect the fence and pole scrubbed major speed or he would have most likely rolled.

I would be beside myself if that happened to me and several years ago, I had a buddy with a Z06 have the exact same tech joyride experience happen to him and it took him over 6 months to get settled and dealer and their insurance would not cover any of my his aftermarket parts, which were top shelf rims, suspension and exhaust with a full ceramic wrap. Basically offered him a same car, close miles but it was not his miles and he had his since new. Dealer would not budge and my friend's lawyer said there was not much he could do for it was not theft. Again, I would be beside myself if that happened to me.

The hard part is gonna be fixing those paint. USB 2.0 so far is nearly impossible to match properly without some heavy blending.

Were you able to get a plate number off the truck?

No.... I just got my car back yesterday. I ended up making a claim and took it to a Lexus Certified Collision and they resprayed the roof, hood, both front fenders, both passenger doors and rear quarter panel. I had a TON of rock chips.

They were unable to match the paint though and there's an obvious difference between the rear bumper and rear quarter panel even from 50 feet away. The rear bumper (Not repainted) is darker than the quarter now....

Heres a picture of how many rock chips that were on my hood. All those circles were rock chips from a single event.

The insurance company did refuse to replace the carbon fiber lower lip because they told me that I needed a time stamped picture showing the carbon lip having no rock chips before the "accident". Right.... So they considered the lower lip prior damage. The original adjuster took my word for it but he said he'd have to get approval because he discovered the cost of the lip and the supervisor said no..

Some pictures of the paint job. They didn't respray the part the runs from the fender to the door (I know the name just can't think of it...).. So that too doesn't match

Why did Lexus have to make their paint so difficult?

USB 2.0 is a tough color to match.. its a 5 stage i believe... Primer, Gray paint, Blue, Metallic coating and Clear coat.. might be 4 but i read somewhere its 5.. someone here can correct me if I'm wrong..

with your new paint job.. CLEAR BRA IT RIGHT AWAY!!! lol. i have an USB GS-F as well.. and I have OCD.. i just clear bra'd the entire car and did a ceramic coating.. so much depth and shine to the paint now

I also went to a lexus certified collision center, and they couldn't do the color matching at all.
Seems like lexus never release data on how they spray this paint, and the collision center just used some generic PPE data for 3 stage paint into it, which will never match its color.

For me, I had to redo the bumper twice because both time someone back into my bumper and caused the paint to scratch badly.
I regret getting this color in the end, just want to vinyl wrap it at this point.
