Good morning, I have been looking to get a set of dedicated winter tires for my '14 F Sport AWD. I really wanted to get a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-80's, but they only have 235/50/19. I'm afraid that the 50's could be a tad too big and possibly rub. Any thoughts? Thank you all in advance!

That's way too big. 235/50/19 is a SUV tire.

I run 225/45/19 for my AWD winter set, Pirelli Ice Zero FR's. Highly recommend them. They are very quiet and don't give you that sloppy steering feel in the dry, and they perform marvelously in snow and ice. Great prices too.

Don't buy into the marketing for Blizzak's or X-Ice... any winter tire is going to be significantly better in winter than all-seasons.

Do you have those tires on the stock rim? Just wondering if the 225's will fit.

I was also looking at 225/45/19 on stock 19" rims on the '15 AWD as my preferred size as well, but they were only available in one of my top tire choices (Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3). In the end I went with Pirelli Sottozero Serie II in the stock 235/40/19 and get them installed this weekend, I should have a chance to try them out in the dry and in the snow the following week. Just like er34 I went with the Pirellis because I'm familiar with their winter tires in dry/wet/snow.

I was really going to give the new all-season plus tires a go as a compromise, and for those my top two were the new Nokian W4 G4 or Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus. The only reason I didn't was a flat this summer and no choice at the time. I do believe in dedicated winter tires but wanted to see how good these new generation tires are.

Hands down Pirelli C7 Cinturato All Season Plus, best tires I ever had, much better than Bridgestone and the Continental ExtremeContact DWS I use to have.

I sure don't like the factory Dunlop's on my GS. Noisy and rough riding. My 14 RX came factory with Dunlop's too and I replaced them a while back with Michelin's and noticed quite an improvement overall. Only time will tell I guess. I look forward to the day I replace the GS tires. I don't know why the RWD GS's mostly come with Dunlop's and the AWD's come with Michelin's.

Although there is some truth to this I wouldn't say "any winter tire" will do either. I have owned all 3 of these brands and hands down the Michelin X-Ice tires are phenomenal and eat snow for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In fact having tried all Michelin, Bridgstone and Perilli winter brands over the last 10+ years I personally think the Ice-X are amazing and is all I roll with nowadays. Expensive ? Yes but there is a reason and as the saying goes you pay what you get for, plus the treadwear and handling /grip on the X-Ice is top notch, the Perill's came a close 2nd if I had a choice.

Thank you er34...I went with the Pirelli's as well. Had them installed as our snowstorm last week was just beginning. They felt very stable on my drive home in 2"-3" of snow. Unfortunately, I didn't get out later once nearly a foot of snow had fallen. Looking forward to my first blizzard!!

Being that you owned both DWS and P7 how do they compare in deep snow condition?

Glad to hear that the P7 was able to handle light snow. AWD or RWD? I'm looking forward to hearing how it does in blizzard conditions.

So I own a '15 GS350 F-Sport, got it CPO like a month ago and hit a massive pothole and wrecked the front passenger tire. Considering the car is CPO and the tires are basically on 50% tread, I am thinking of getting all new tires.

Maybe you guys can recommend what I should do.

1. Get one tire and drive on the existing 3 tires.
2. Get all new all season tires
3. Get winter tires now and get summer tires after winter passes. (If this option is good, can I use the same rims for both tires?)

On a side note, I did bend my rim a bit. Any idea who to goto to find out what should be done?

I'd just get 1 used tire and then eventually replace them all later on.

I don't recommend using same wheels and swapping in winters and summers. You'll need to pay to have it mounted and balanced each time the season changes.
That adds up and unless their meticulous like a dealer, your wheels might get scuffed each time.

For that bent wheel I highly recommend this shop in Edison, NJ. It should cost no more than $125 to get it straightened out.
