Should I buy a 120k km sc430 or a 65k km Honda Accord v6?
Hello everyone, I am trying to decide between a 120k km 2003 SC430 and a 65k km 2011 Honda Accord. Despite which one I like better, I want to know in your experience, which one is more reliable and potentially cheaper to maintain? From my research, both cars are relatively reliable. However, it seems like the accord might have more minor issues, and even some rare engine problems. While the SC430 has less minor issues? and almost no engine issues despite high mileage. From what I read on this forum, it seems the SC430 could run forever, but even the engine is fine, to replace all the other weared parts can also be expensive. Please share your knowledge and experience, I want to know which car is more reliable/easier to maintain in longer terms, thank you btw, I am trying to drive it everyday despite the weather.

Honda had a v6 engine cylinder deactivation ring issue

Basic questions you need to ask or if have answers, you can tell us and we can give you our 5 cents:
1. Is the car for work or pleasure or both?
2. Is it for year round use?
The maintenance requirements for the 2 cars are quite different, likewise cost of parts and service will differ.

So far, the alternator and leather seats failed. I also did the timing belt water pump etc maintenance.
as said before the Accord V6 has a ring issue...mine doesn’t have it.
8th Gen Accord, 2008-2012
2 door or 4 door
if the Accord is a four door, it’s an Auto and Honda transmissions like fresh fluid. They need a change every 20k Miles regardless of what you are told...if this is done, it will be trouble free.
I have long been a Honda Guy, but not anymore. This Accord will be my last Honda. My next car will be another Toyota...Honda went cheap on many things...like leather...paper thin and won’t last long.
here is a good Honda forum, but no where near as good as ClubLexus. The Honda website has good people but the forum foundation is archaic and clunky...ClubLexus stays on top of issues and is always upgrading the software!

I got rid of my Acura MDX with a very nice 3.7 ltr V6 cos that engine started to burn oil at about 65 to 75 k miles. Known issue with some Honda engines. My 3UZ FE in the SC is 14 years old, has done 93 k miles and not one hint of oil consumption. Not the only consideration but it should mean something.

You can't drop the top with the Accord.

Sorry but how do you evaluate between an SC and an Accord...very tough.

1. Price: If both cars price the same, I would take the SC
2. Daily driving: If it's daily driving car, I would buy the Accord, since maintenance items would cost less
3. Weekend drive: SC is the choice
4. Reliability: I would take the SC over the Accord, but if it's a daily driving, I'd go with the Accord
5. Enjoyment: Definitely the SC
6. Status: Of course, the SC
7. Power: SC
8. Gas saving: Accord
In short, If this car is a daily driving car, you should consider the Accord. Myself, I'll buy the SC, regardless.

it would do better if someone else drove it! I have a lead foot and accelerate fast...but pretty much drive the speed limit unless it is open road and no traffic...which is around here sometimes.
