Default Are you retired ? Thinking of retirement? At what age ?

Hey guys

How many of you who owned an SC is retired ?
Are you planning to retired soon ? And at what
Age?

I am personally thinking these days I might want to
retire soon ? I am age 53, worked for 32 years and can
see the finish line pretty soon. I come from the corporate
world and the rat race is not fun anymore.

Are you also thinking of retirement ?

Retired in 2010 at age 64, bought my 2003 SC in 2011. In the 7 and a half years I've had it, only put 15K miles on it, with only routine maintenance including changing the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, all hoses and belts. Also got rid of those horrible run-flat tires.

I never drive it in winter and hardly ever when rainy. I put the top down in early May, keep it down until October (actually top goes back up this week).

And I never regretted retiring nor for buying the SC430! Too much fun!

Haven't bought a sc yet but i'm close. I'm semi retired [work in a warehouse part time]. I'm 69 and when i get my double hernia operated on later this month, i may look for more work, unless i'm too busy driving my hopefully new sc430. Looking at one this week ['07, granite gray/blk interior, under 50k miles.

Good luck on your hunting. That combination is hard to get.

I retired at the age of 62. Purchased my 2007 SC430 the same year to go with my 1987 Allante. Retirement is the best job I have ever had.

I just turned 57, and aiming for 4-6 more years. Like Jonas said in post #1, the rat race has been run. I'm in IT, and it's a younger man's game nowadays. The SC replaced a '93 Miata, which was a blast, but a pretty rudimentary automobile. At this stage in my life, some creature comforts are very much appreciated.

I'm 51 and looking to retire around 59.
For people in the states, at what age do you plan on drawing social security?

the first chance I get...at 62. If I waited to 67, I would be about 77 before I broke even. Many things can happen in that time...

Retire approx three years ago when I turned 60. Bought the SC430 a couple of years ago as a toy and we are enjoying it although it does not get driven more than about 3K per year.

I'm 55 and am looking forward to my second retirement next July when I turn 56. My first retirement was from Active Duty in the Air Force (20 years of service, retired as a Lt Col). I made the transition to civil service and kept the same job I had while in the military. Next July will be the first opportunity I'll have to retire from civil service and start collecting an immediate pension. I'll have 33 total years of AF service when I call it quits next year. I own a thriving photography business on the side, though, so I won't be completely retiring. I'm also studying to get a Real Estate license very soon, so I have yet another "hobby" job for my retirement time. I have the ultimate Real Estate agent car - a 2010 LS600hL with the Executive Seating package in the back. I can have my clients chilling in the back with their feet up on the ottoman and getting a Shiatsu massage while we drive around looking at houses!

I only drive my SC430 around 2k miles per year, but absolutely love it and plan on keeping it forever. It only has 22K miles, and gets totally pampered with service and waxings, so it should last a very long time.

i don’t recall if I ever asked you what you did in the USAF? Sorry if I asked already...
i was a Comm guy on the E-4B NAOC at Offutt AFB from 1986-2000, then moved to Patrick AFB, Fl doing Test with the E-8C JSTARS until my first retirement in 2006...then like you, picked up the same job, except as a civilian contractor. My wife just completed 30yrs of service with the VA and will finish up in three more when she hits the MRA for the pension...

Hope we have a few few more days like today on Wall Street!
