It's not worth the hassle and light output decrease IMO. Just purchase a set of 5500k HIDs and you'll get factory performance with a nice color.

Please take a look at the post below...

A pair of new headlamps go for less than $80 on Amazon.

An addition to the thread rkw posted above, check out theretrofitsource.com for bulbs. I've purchased their products for many projects and I'm pleased with their quality.

Please take a look at the link below on a discussion about high-beam light bulbs.

As discussed on that link, the high beam light bulb uses the 9005 socket type. The link mentioned that when low beam (D2S) is off, the LS430 sends reduced power to the high beam (9005) so they function as DRL (Daylight Running Light). When the low beam (D2S) is on, the "Clearance" bulbs (194) function as DRL.

I personally think it should be against the law to change headlamps to be brighter than the OEM that the car came with from the factory. I have seen too many headlamps that are actually blinding in bright daylight. What for? It's like the driver is screaming "look at me, I'm an idiot and could care less about anyone else"!

Check with them. I've used their stuff in the past with good results.
