Default Question about a DIY AUX project I知 wanting to do ...

I was wondering if this would work on an 04 LS with nav/ ML... or if there is a way to retro fit.

Ive searched and couldn稚 find a write up.

And before anyone says it. No I don稚 want a GROM or VAIS etc.... itching for a project and want to do something like this.. I HATE my FM modulator

thanks guys

Ha! You must be over 60... :P

Why try to reinvent the wheel - and use Bluetooth instead? You don't have to deal with a cable and you can leave your phone in your pocket, have "just as good as" sound, and a stealth installation. The BT45-TOY is easy to install and integrates into the car's electronics, including steering wheel controls, plus gives you a mic for calls.

BTW, I am over 60, myself...

many ideas?

Also any any input on this BT45-TOY you speak of? Is the the harness that plugs into the back of the nav?

from what I've read you have to buy the usa spec bluetooth and a connector that connects to either the tape button or the cd button on the back of the unit. So you would lose one of them

Yeah you unplug a harness from the CD player, and plug it into the BT45. You lose CD player functionality. But gain Bluetooth and Aux.

My own project is to wire both the Aux 3.5mm cable and the supplied USB cable from the BT45 to the cigarette lighter of the ash-tray with one of these:

Yes, you get AUX and USB (for charging) cable availability and Blue Tooth, with steering wheel controls with the BT45.

Regarding the BT45: Is there a way to bypass the tape player and not cd unit?
Would rather have ability to play cds instead of tapes.
Thanks

Why not GROM?

I just installed one in my 430 (I used to have one in my Volvo). Here are a couple items of interest:
1. You can still play CDs (I think; when I installed the GROM it didn't work until I ejected all the CDs, so it stands to reason that putting a CD back in would work).
2. The Audio interface shows the artist and song name (usually, sometimes it just says AUX).

The Emulator switch on the radio used for sound is SAT1, not CD, so that might be an indicator that the CD player is unaffected.

Here's the PDF for install and operation: https://www.usaspec.com/images/docum...103016_web.pdf

HOWEVER: YOU MUST GO TO THE SITE TO CHOOSE YOUR EXACT VEHICLE MODEL/YEAR BEFORE PURCHASE.

Also, the BT45 displays song and artist info. So, there... :P
