Default I painted my calipers!

Been wanting to do it for many years and finally got to it. Pleased with the result.

Credit to all the threads here with instructions on how to disassemble and remove the caliper and change brake pads and some DM help from lobuxracer. Thank you all!

Looks good! Where did you get the decals from?

Wow, I want those decals. What color and process did you use. Any details will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

The decals were custom made many years ago. I drew up the design myself on photoshop and emailed the vinyl shop to cut them for me.

Another credit: The decal design was inspired by Ferrari calipers, like this one:

It's a rattlecan job actually. I used the tutorials here to take the hardware and calipers off and mounted the calipers on a custom stand I made with scrap wood. First I sanded off the original paint with increasing grit levels. Masked off the sealers and pistons and sprayed with a few coats of Duplicolor high heat engine primer, then high heat engine yellow as a base color, then used Duplicolor schoolbus yellow for the final color (I wanted orangy-yellow), then decals, then many coats of high temp clear. I also put in new brake pads at the same time.

I actually had a paint shop custom make me a can mix of metallic orange-yellow but I couldn't use it because the paint turned out too powdery... waste of money there. Originally I really wanted metallic but didn't end up with it... Oh well.

Did you have to get the stickers printed on any special vinyl to handle the heat and being covered in clear coat? Someone told me that could be an issue once but not sure how true that is.

These look incredible. I (and it looks like others as well) would definitely be interested in the decals that you had made if you wanted to replicate them...$$

Is it a high-temp tolerant vinyl? What is the name of the shop, I would like to do the same

Looks good! Just saw a small rock chip on mine when washing it this morning. Hoping it doesn't spread quickly.

For those who've asked about the decals, I found the company I asked to make them. They were made by motogfx and they do a lot of custom caliper decals. I don't have the picture file I sent to them anymore since it was done years ago. Though I made the design, the logos were already in their system and they just scaled it to proper size. So they'll likely be able to do something similar again if you request it. I assume since they do a lot of caliper decals that they used material that have a degree of heat resistance but I forgot if I actually asked them that... lol.

The car still needs a full cleaning so I haven't taken good whole pics yet but here's one with the wheel on:
