Is the new ES worth the $10k premium over Avalon?
same platform, same powertrain, similar size (maybe a tad smaller than Avalon), do they worth $10k more over the Avalon when comparing similar trims? ES definitely had Avalon beatened in styling that’s for sure.

Platform is not exaclty the same. The way its built is different. Same powertrain that IS true however.
Quality, materials, style, prestige, different suspension and tuning, better sound deadening, are all things worth considering.
This is just me, but just the fact that one is called the LEXUS ES and the other is called TOYOTA Avalon, justifies the price difference.

All very good points. I slightly understand the want to compare the two but they really should not be compared. I don't see a lot of articles "Chevy vs Cadallic" or "VW vs Audi" They are not in the same class.

VERY good point here! But always with Lexus and its Toyota counterpart. Especially with ES!

Anyways, my parents just traded in their ES350 2015 for a new 2019 Limited Avalon, they really hated their ES and the remote touch was a disaster to use. They have every option on their new Avalon. Advantages for the Avalon include, 60/40 split bench, slightly better interior volume, soft ride.

That's nice to know, as a soft ride is the most important thing to me. I wonder how the 2019 Avalon will compare with a 2019 ES 350 in softness. I suspect they probably made the ES harder.

I would take the ES, and yes I'd pay $10k more to get it. I definitely prefer the ES styling over the Avalon. After having the GS with the 12.3" nav, I don't think I could easily go back to the small screen in the Avalon. The new ES has the larger screen, and for me, remote touch is a plus as I hate touchscreens. You also get a longer warranty with the ES, though I'm not sure how valuable that is since these cars are so reliable.
