Default 2004-2006 Audio wiring questions

Does anyone have the full wiring diagram for the audio system in the 04-06 430 (non-nav,non ML)? I've been planning an epic audio build with Carplay functionality and a standalone four channel amp for quite some time now and I want to finalize a few things in my head before I go dropping almost a grand on parts.

The things I need specifically:
  • The output wires from the amp to the door speakers (all four)
  • The output wires from the amp to the front tweeters
Also, on Crutchfield there is a harness that supposedly retains the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit on the 04-06 430s. Does anyone know if the stock amp needs to be retained for this functionality? Or do the steering wheel controls on the 04-06 talk directly to the OEM head unit?

Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks as always, rkw!

I noticed that thread is for a 430 equipped with nav and ML system. Would anyone happen to know if the wires are still the same color for the base model?

As a follow up question, can someone snap me a pic or describe where the OEM location for the backup camera is? I'm trying to plan where to put mine so it looks completely stock. Is it offset to one side or in the middle? The underside of the trunk of my base model must be different than the trims with the camera because I can't see any empty spot to put one.

Rkw I may have to bother you again... Just tried installing my carplay unit and the adapter that Crutchfield sent me actually doesn’t fit and says it’s for a 2006 430??? I always thought they were the same 04-06.
Has anyone ever heard of the two years being different???

Would you happen to have the audio wiring diagram for the 06 so I can compare? Thanks in advance!

I believe the 2004-2006 LS430 have the same audio system/wiring.

Is it possible that Crutchfield sent you the wrong parts? Check out the link below for some nice pictures and discussions on the Apple Carplay...

Have you searched at all?

Are you trying to use the AXXESS unit from Crutchfield?
I don't think you can keep the steering wheel controls, no matter what you use.
Check this thread, might be helpful; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ll-w-pics.html

I realize they seem like really newb questions but I researched over a week before I pulled the trigger on this.

I spoke to a technical specialist from Crutchfield that promised me I’d be able to retain my steering wheel controls with this new unit from Crux. (The Crux Cs-tj20). Go ahead and search that unit on google. Absolutely nothing comes up. The only thing that comes up is the product page on Crutchfield that says it will work for a 2006 LS430... so I took a gamble and trusted them.

Now that it’s here I see that only one plug out of the two plugs actually work with my factory harness. To make things even worse, I actually ordered a prewired harness for an extra 30 bucks from Crutchfield and was promised everything would be a plug and play.

I then called Crutchfield technical support and they’re completely stumped. They think the entire product catalog fitment is wrong.

So yes, I have searched. But this is ostensibly a new interface that claims to retain steering wheel controls. And if it fits the 2006 430, it should work for my 05.

Says for Toyota and Lexus vehicles with JBL system. Lexus never used JBL... either ML or Pioneer. That alone makes me skeptical as to whether or not it will actually work.

Yeah right? But then it says "including JBL (Pioneer-made)" right after that. So still pretty mysterious. lol
