Default 2015 GS350 F-Sport 1-Piece rotors vs 2-Piece

So my GS has finally started making the dreading creaking noise during turning; I know there is a TSB regarding this and if the car is covered under warranty, Lexus changes the car from 2-piece to 1-piece rotors. Anyone have this done to their car? What if any downsides are there to 1-piece rotors vs 2-piece? I will not be racing in the foreseeable future, just in case anyone wants to copypasta the racing advantages of 2-piece rotors lol.

I just had it done on my 14 under the service bulletin. My brakes were not making any noise at all but I mentioned to my service advisory about the bulletin and he told me he could do it under warranty if I wanted. When I picked the car up I saw they didn't even test drive it because mileage in was the same as mileage out. My original rotors were about a year from being toast so I took the opportunity to save $1k and get new rotors and pads for free.

The 1 piece steel rotors are heavier - 5lbs each. They will very slightly affect ride quality and they will have less bite when you step on the brake pedal hard, since the aluminum 2 piece are more performance oriented.

Those are the only differences. My advice would be tolerate the noise as long as you can and then have it replaced some time in 2019 before your factory warranty is up. This way you get the most bang for your hypothetical buck.

I just had the 1 piece rotors swapped on my '15 GS fsport under the service bulletin. It took about a month for Lexus corporate to approve, but they agreed, no less. Before the swap, the car's front end was creaking and jingling miserably during deceleration, acceleration and over bumpy road surfaces. With the one piece rotors the car is quiet and "normal". This is my first lexus and I'm not accustomed to a dealer/service center providing such warm and coddling customer service. I declined all the extra frill they were sending my way and said don't worry, I'm toyota grade. I just wanted a v6 rear wheel drive camry and this is all that could meet my demand. They laughed. Good crew at Lexus of Pleasanton.

I recently paid 1200 to the dealership for new brakes in my 2014 f sport. Mine lasted 26xxx miles. The previous brakes were oem 2 piece rotors and the new ones are the one piece. I only notice a slight decrease in braking power, but over all pretty good.

This forum just saved me a TON!! I was originally quoted 500 to replace the brake pads and resurface the rotors. I received a call shortly after that I needed to replace my rotors and that the cost would be 1100. I immediately jumped on this site, and searched for this problem. Sure enough I got my rotors covered under warranty! Thank you lexus forum lol

I had that issue, however Lexus put 1 piece rotors on the car that are supposed to be for an all wheel drive set up. Brakes started squeaking about 3 months in. Lexus said its normal wear and tear. Lexus left me out to dry. Lexus in Carlsbad, CA.

2015 GS350 F Sport RWD here. I had clicking in slow corners and they swapped my brakes for 1-piece. I had to bring it back two additional times as the 1-piece units squeaked loudly (and I mean painfully loud). They are fine now. All done at no charge.

I purchased my gs from there. Thought they were good until they scratched my car and tried to act like it was already there. Finally got them to buff and wax the car for free. I've never been back since.

Wanted to update you guys to let you know we finally have the front 2-piece rotors available! If you wanted to save some money, the front 1-piece option we have as well.

For you Lexus of Pleasanton owners....
Putnam in Redwood City did mine when I bought the car; it was certified.
The service department seems willing to help.

Default How to identify which type of rotor I have

2014 GS350 F Sport RWD - didn't buy additional options for braking. Need rotors and pads. Went to Kevin's website and was presented with the following possibilities for rotors. Not even sure if I have 2-piece or 1-piece (see pics below). Please help me identify, Thank you.

Is there anything special you need to do to switch from 2-piece to 1-piece? Out of warranty so need to do it myself. Also what is the part number for 1-piece rotors and brake pads? Thx
