Default AUX port problems

I have a 2007 Lexus ES350 that i just picked up a couple weeks ago and i was trying to listen to music through the aux port but whenever i go to press the "disc-aux" button nothing happens. I have tried holding it and still nothing. I was looking online to see if anyone else was having the same problem and i didnt find much. I was hoping someone on here could help me also some other info that might be helpful. I have an Iphone X and have to use an adapter to connect to the aux cord since apple got rid of the aux port. idk if that may be the problem.

Thank you!!

The apple audio adapter works with iphone 8 in the Aux of my 2009 ES. Do you have any other devices that you can attach directly to the audio jack plug?

The audio won't switch to AUX unless it correctly senses the cord plugged in.

Resurrecting this thread as I have the same problem and have isolated it to a bad connection in the aux port.
Jiggling it and holding it in a particular position helps to switch but any bumps wiggle it loose again.

Anyhow, it looks like 86190-53010 is the replacement aux assembly.
I am looking to find the instructions/youtube videos for the replacement in a 2007 ES350.
Any one have a link ? I hope I don't have to remove the center console for this.

Thanks, I will give it a shot.

I think having instructions for step 6 - "REMOVE AUDIO TERMINAL" would be helpful

Did you ever change the aux assembly? I am dealing with the same problem and want to know if it’s a feasible DIY. @lanb

It’s VERY easy and will take you 10 minutes tops. You pop out the panel where the air condition/heated seats wheels are. Beneath that will give you access to aux port from the back and I believe it shimmies out in some way I can’t remember. Maybe a clip to squeeze but I had an aux port that was shorting out eventually quit working and this solved it. It was like a $10 piece on eBay or something. I will see if I can find it
edit: found it! There’s probably cheaper options so look around ($16)

Okay that doesn’t sound too bad. I think I’ll buy the part for now and in the meantime, I’ll call an audio shop and see what the rate would be for such a job. Thanks!

don’t do that, this job is a 1/10 difficulty. It’s VERY easy. Any flathead screwdriver will pop that panel, just use a rag for on screwdriver for safety of scratches. Then it’s just looking in there to see how to release it. Easiest job I can think of!

Default Making Progress

Thank you @dknights for the motivation!! I just got the part out which didn’t take long like you said. Panel came off easily with no tools, just lifted up at the edge of where the cover is for the cup holder. The electrical connections came off easily since you just needed to push down on the tabs. What I messed up on was the direction of the removal. You are supposed to push inwards so the part comes out of the inside of the center console. Anyways, I got the OEM part from Bell Lexus on eBay for about $21. 86190-06010 is the newer part number. I will update this post once I replace it, Hopefully the aux will start working again as I am tired of burning CD’s.

Seat Heater/Cooler panel removal

After lots of wiggling, it slid out

Push down on the tab

awesome! Knew you could do it. And I was skeptical it would fix my problem too. It’ll work! These aux ports are known to be finicky. So if it ever dies again, now you know! Also, look at this item, it’s what I use for my aux port, so you can connect through Bluetooth, no audio loss.

Default Job is Done

I changed the part and the aux is now working again. It made me appreciate having an older model where you can service it yourself with little difficulty.

@AA2016 - Great that you were able to do the fix. I actually got a cheapo FM transmitter instead since my new phone lost the AUX out anyway.

should look at the item I posted. It’s a definite upgrade over standard FM transmitter and just as convenient.
