Spare tire question
Ok, my dealer's saying the compact spare for my car is showing up as a T145 yet my spare's a T125. He said for tires he can no longer look up by the VIN only year, make and model. Can some of you other 2IS guys look at your spare and tell me what you have for a tire size please? My spare's toast

Here's a tough one; would you know if the spare tire pans in the trunk are the same for all years? I ask because I'm thinking a 145 width spare wouldn't fit in my trunk. Was thinking that they were all the same though. And what year 2IS's have 16" wheels?? Nowhere have I seen that on any wheel website.

There are 2 types of spare tire pan, one meant for a full-size spare and one meant for the temporary spare. North America only got the temporary spare, so all of the trunk pans here are the same.
As far as the 16-inch wheels and tires, they were used on base model IS250 RWD's in many countries globally including Canada from 2006-2010. The USA never had 16-inch wheels, 17-inch were the smallest used.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Spray in "fix-a-flat" doesn't work as well as you think. Sometimes it does, and then sometimes it doesn't; too inconsistent. If you make long drives, I'd actually add a can of fix a flat in addition to your compact spare. Getting stranded's just not worth it man.

Ahhh I see. Thank you for that info! You must work for Lexus lol. The things you know are very detailed. So can the U.S. spare tire pan fit the 145 width spare do you think? And is that I'm assuming, mounted on the same spare rim that everyone else gets? The 42611-53320 part number is it? Are the little Styrofoam cushions that sit on top of the spare the same for both spare widths do you know? I'm asking all this because I hit a pothole and pinched my tire. Then I limped home on the spare and ruined that too lol. At 10 mph no less... After reviewing it all I made the determination that the donut on that rim is really too narrow for it, and should be a little wider. I'm ordering a spare tire and to mount on a new spare rim and are trying to determine if the 145 will fit. Thanks for all your help man.
USA cars used both the 125 or 145 spare tire in the same pan. The wheel is also the same regardless of the tire used (42611-53320 is the correct 17x4 compact spare wheel).
The rubber pads below the spare and the syrofoam spacer on top are the same regardless of whether it uses the 125 or 145 tire. Everything on the car is the same, the wheel is the same. The only thing that is ever different is the tire.

Overall, compared to Subaru, your online parts breakdown at your websites leaves a lot to be desired so I know you're not getting it from there, but could you tell me how you know such minute details about these cars that no one else knows not even the engineers I call from time to time? lol. I speak to a lot of parts guys and engineers about cars and none of them know what you know. How is that? And since you're a student I'm guessing you're an engineer or going to be an engineer.
