Owned several bikes over the years in my younger days (well before cell phones and texting). Nowadays I don't have anywhere near the courage to ride a bike in traffic with so many "drivers" paying so little attention to actually driving their vehicle.

Two favorite bikes are 2003 Goldwing 1800 with about 67k on it and my 1998 Valkyrie with about 35k. That's me on the Valk in my profile pic.
Got a VTX 1800, but will probably unload that this spring.
Completely agree on riding in traffic and don't do it. Mine are for out of town trips and in 1.5 miles from the house I'm on a 2 lane country road.

I had a 2006 LS430, and rode bikes on track only.
1989 GSXR 1100, 98 GSXR 750, 2001 Aprilia RSV Mille R. 2007 ZX6R, 1974 Kawasaki F11, 1987 Suzuki RM125 & 2003 RM125
I still have the bikes listed, but sold the 1989 GSXR 1100.

Had an FJR (with electronic shifting - 2006) and rode it from Houston to Sturgis and back, FL to North GA mountains.
Not a scratch.
Come back home, some idiot runs a stoplight. Fortunately, it was at relatively low speed and only my hand was broken in 3 places.
That was the end of my riding.

When I was looking at getting into riding bikes, I too wanted an FJR1300 to tour the country on. Ended up with the 89 GSXR 1100 and found it too hot to ride around town/in traffic.
Maybe someday, I'll get an FJR.

I've had a hand full since about the age of 17 mostly back when I was in my late teens to mid-20's. My first one was the '86 FZ 600 and the last one was the Harley that I got rid of about 6 years ago. The one I enjoyed the most and wish I still had was the Fazer 700 but really should have held on to the '88 FZR1000 that I bought new. That was me at about 19 yrs old and how I didn't kill myself on that thing I don't know. Back then we didn't have to wear helmets and I rode around in shorts and t-shirts all the time.

I have a BMW R1200GS. In the last couple of years I sold my 1994 HD Softail Custom, and my 1995 Ducati 916....both of which I wish I had not sold. I'd like to buy the 916 back. The BMW is the best bike I have ever owned. It does everything well..
