Default Pretty disappointing 1/4 mile runs

Went to the track and only managed a 13.1 @ 109. 419 ft DA. 100% humidity. My mods are gutted primaries, catback exhaust, drag radials, intake elbow and afe dry drop in filter. It was very weird. The car got slower run after run. Would a possible valley leak and cracked header cause the car to go slower than stock. My first run was the fastest with the 13.1 and I held it in gear in 3rd a bit too long bouncing off the limiter longer than I should have.

i too was humbled my first time out. The car was probably getting warm. Try proping the hood open between runs and also letting it sit after the drive there. You also need some practice. The 109 trap speed should put you into high 12s easily. What's your 60'?

60 ft was 2.3 and on one run 2.5 lmaooo. This is my second time at the strip. 6 runs in total. I was just mashing the gas from idle. I think with the DRs I need to load up the car a bit and rev to something higher to launch. But yes I kind of hot lapped the car and didn't let it sit much between runs. I was hoping for a low 12 but it just wasn't there lol. I need to check everything and make sure nothing is wrong .I have 125k miles on the odometer .

What was the temp? I've hot lapped probably 15 runs back to back in 50ish degree weather with no slow down at all. In fact, I tended to get better as the launch became more automatic .

well your 2.3 60 ft time while having DR is a big issue but still you wouldn't be in the low 12s. do a compression check on your motor. 125k is high miles.

Track temp was 65-70 degrees. Drag radials are 275

2.3 60 foot is pretty terrible, especially with drag radials, were you spinning? traction control on?

Tcs was off and I believe that I was not spinning. Low end torque just didn't feel like it was there.

Yea.. I mean these cars dont have the best low end torque but 2.3 60 is usually what cars that run 15 seconds 1/4 miles pull lol

You should be under 2 seconds with DRs.

Lol I just ran a can of sea foam through the intake to kind of clean out what was there a little. Went for some pulls and spun the radials on the street 1-2 . Feels a lot stronger but weird I couldn't do anything worthy at the track.

2.3 on drag radials, wow. I'd want at least a 1.8 on that setup. Are you heating up the tires?

I had trouble doing a really good burnout. Spun them for like 3 seconds. I think that might've been one of my problems. I've never done a burnout in this car before then.

I have a few thoughts on your situation. How long was your car idling in the staging area? With the ambient temp around 65 if your idling for more than a minute or 2 with your car warmed up I’ve seen my intake air temps climb to 130+ with my tech stream running. That alone will add .2-.3 on your 60’ time also what is the weight of each wheel of your drag setup? I have 245 MT’s on 18” wheels FBO and time and they stick great. Also without knowing your KCLV number it’s difficult to figure out the exact problem but I’m inclined to think you say idling too long in between runs.

^^^^^That would be my guess, your car is pulling timing. I think Rafi said it only takes IAT to be at 90+ degrees or something like that before the computer starts to pull timing IIRC.....

I was idling in the staging lanes for more than 10 minutes at a time. I didn't do any logging, but I can bet the iats were up there. My techstream computer just decided not to work so I can't check the kclv numbers. With the top end mph, with a perfect run, what do you think would have been the et? Also what are your recommendations on the burnout. I'm still learning that lol. I have kosei k6r rims with NT05R tires .
