Default GX 460 Premium vs Luxury and Lease Rate

Hi all,

I'm sorry for a second post so soon. I was wondering if the luxury package is worth it over the premium on a GX 460? Additionally my father's friend is looking to get out of his lease on a 2016 GX 460 luxury. I would have to pay 670/month for 19 months and then the buyout is 37500. This seems high to me. Does anyone have any input on this?

Thank you all! I'm just trying to figure out the best deal possible on a GX so that I'm completely happy with my purchase!

If you do a lot of off-roading, go with premium since air suspension is a burden considering modification, reliability and all the stuff, if not go with premium anyway since you will hardly ever use that. Three more cameras is also a waste of money if you are an average skilled driver and not climbing rocks every day. Safety features? I don't know. If you think Adaptive Cruise control and Pre-collision system are worth 7000+, then get the luxury. The ONLY useful one I can think of is the crawl control, just in case of an emergency but I don't think it's worth that much either. I will stick with the premium unless there is a 5000+ off deal over the deal on a premium. Just my thoughts on two models.

Forgot to mention. Third-row power folding and Mark-Levinson are luxury only features and leather quality on the luxury is better than the premium and the wheels definitely look much better. Others are pretty much the same.

Hi cicio,

Thank you for the quick reply. I agree its not normally worth it. However, at my dad's friend's rate it seems to be all in around 49K. So I went and called about a premium lease and it comes with around a 38-42K residual and 540/month. Therefore I'm wondering if its worth the price on this one?

If it's purchased in late 2016 and has a low mileage(10k±) on it, it's a good option. Otherwise, I will consider the premium since L-certified luxury is also around that(50k total) range which I think it's not worth it.

Thanks again cicio. It's a late 2016 with 6K miles on it. The guy cant drive anymore and is just stuck with the lease. I figured compared to L certified I'm basically getting it brand new for the price. Although I am nervous about what finance rates they're going to offer me in 19 months. Right now it seems I could get L certified luxury with 36K miles for about 42-45 but then with interest it comes out to financing around 50. That's why I thought it may be better to get one that I have taken care of if it ends up around the same price

It's difficult. Rational me says get a rav4 but I drove the GX and loved it. I figure its at least a Lexus so maintenance/servicing costs will be substantially lower than BMW/MB/Audi. Gas mileage is unfortunate but its also a true SUV with a v8 not a crossover. I think in terms of reliability you almost must reach the break even point on expense compared to say an X5 with difference in fuel economy right? Probably even end up ahead once the X5 is out of warranty

Other than air suspension, the other things you have mentioned here (three cameras, adaptive cruise control, etc.) ARE not part of Luxury package. They are part of Drive Support Package. Difference between premium and luxury are air suspension, power folding third row seats, and few other things.

Take that $670 for two months, go out and buy a 20 year old ragged out 4 Cylinder (topless) Jeep Wrangler stick for $1,250.00 and drive it for two months.
I bet you'll appreciate a Base model 460 after that! LOL (jk)

Go with the Preeeem, JMHO.

2018 GX premiums does not offer real leather or a wood steering wheel. It is Nuluxe on seats and steering wheel. If none of those matter, then just go with Premium. Just know the seats are harder with Nuluxe.

Premiums have the alligator leather package, mind you it’s not the nice Luxury leather but still. Nuluxe is nice but I can still spot it a mile away.

First time I heard of Alligator leather in a vehicle. Are you saying Nuluxe feels and looks like Alligator leather?

I was joking about th alligator part-because the sides have this thick alligator skin like look. But the premium package comes with leather, not the best quality IMO (I’m having some imprint issues only after 500 miles of ownership).
