Wheels. How big is too big?
I have a 1998 ES300 and I found a deal on a set of wheels off an infiniti G35. They are 17x7 inches with an offset of 45 which I don't think will be an issue.
I am unsure about the tire size. The new wheels currently have 225/55/17 on them. Should I be worried that they will rub against my struts? Several websites say that 225/50/17 is the largest allowed within spec but I was wondering if any of you could provide more insight.
Also, how close would be considered to close to the suspension?
Thank you!

Depending on the tire (not all are identical for a given spec) they might work but will probably rub. I know someone with a 1993 Camry that has the exact same wheels but they are running 50 series rubber, not an identical car but close. If you do run 55's you'll get a rev/speedo error of 4% too much IMO.

Those are nice wheels. I am not sure what my friend is running for width I don't remember, if you go 225 your revs/mile will drop slightly and go up slightly with a 215.

They look like these. Four wheels in immaculate condition which is not a bad deal for 180$ (CDN) here in Toronto!

For that price the tires are a bonus. You can always check fitment they might work.
