Wink 2gs on 245/45r/18's?

Yesterday, I bought this 2000 GS400 platinum edition with 186005mi. Its a platinum edition which, from what I gather, doesn't mean much. I bought it from the second owner who had it maintained by the local Toyota dealer and had records from '00-'12. Not bad considering I've never bought a used car with an official service history.

Took a few shots after papers were signed.

I know what you're thinking...."DAMN THATS A BIG DENT"

Why yes, yes it is a big dent

Its got a dent and some rust(and the trunk lid has UV damage to the clearcoat). BUT......it was only $2k and I had already talked him down $250. The cosmetic portion of this vehicle will receive attention later in its life.

What I need help on is this: I'm looking at picking up some 18" Sport Edition ST3's wrapped with Blizzak 245/45/18. Now there's not a ton of life left on the tires and I'm going to need a summer set of rubber anyways. I looked at the 2gs wheel fitment guide(see link) and it doesn't exactly mention 245/45/18. I get the feeling that means it may not fit. Can anyone weigh in on this? Also, it looks like they might be ET 44 if that helps as well.

What wheels are you running right now? Can you post size with offset?
Also, the specs of what you are wanting to buy so we can compare

The guy just got back to me actually said they're ET +42. I don't know the wheel width sadly, but right now its on stock 17's.

*edit* They're 18x8's

I have this as your oem: 235/50ZR17 95Z8Jx17 ET41
Is this correct?
Knowing what you have right now helps with determining what you want.
What offset are the ST3s that you want?

Cross referencing this page it seems to confirm 235/45/17. I couldn't find any info on the offset.

The wheels i'm looking at are 18x8 +42 245/45/18.

MedicalDoc, I could not ask for a more detailed response. Thank you.

So it looks like I'll be a bit tall but the wheel will be the same distance from the suspension components. With 235/40/18's on there these wheels should be snug but will clear the wheel well(from the data above). Can you tell me what input parameters you used on this website?

I looked it up in two:

http://www.willtheyfit.com/

https://www.wheel-size.com/

The parameter were the ones you gave me. Look at the bottom of post # 7.

Awesome well it looks like it'll be damn close, but I'm picking up the car the same day as I'll be looking at the wheels so I'll pop them on there and see if its too close. Thanks again for the detailed response!

245/45-18 is too big. It's 13mm (1/2") taller than the tallest OE size (215/60-16).

Recommended sizes: 245/40-18 or 235/40-18. 235/40-18 is the same diameter as the OE 235/45-17. 245 is 8mm taller, negligible. They do have a bulgier appearance compared to the 235, as a result of that extra sidewall and width, especially on an 8" wheel.

265/40-18 not recommended for 8" wheel, and is taller than recommended.

18x8 +42 leaves loads of clearances on both the inside and outside, you will have no issues whatsoever if you choose appropriately sized tires.

For future reference the OE 17x8 has an offset of +50.

I have 245/40-18 on 18x8 +40 front and 265/35-18 on 18x9+40 rear. Like firelizard said I wouldn't recommend going any larger than that or you'll need to roll your fenders. My wheels are flush but they don't rub with lowered suspension.

I run 19s with 245 40 in the back and I don't have any issues. I am lowered about 3 inches all around too. My front tires are 225 40 and when turning at max the tires when new barely rubs against the liner.
