Default How To Get Doors To Lock After Exiting

Is there a setting so that the doors will automatically lock after you exit the car and have the remote FOB with you? Like walk away and 60 seconds later it locks? Put another way, is the only way to lock the car by touching the handle or using the FOB?

Lexus doesn't offer an "auto lock" feature. You'll need to touch the detent on the handle or press the button on the key fob to lock the car.

Only time the RX will auto lock is if you unlock with the fob and then do not open a door. After about a minute the vehicle will relock itself.

After the engine is off, and all doors that will be opened are opened, I lock by pressing the lock button on the inside driver's door and then closing the door(s). Have always done this on all Lexus cars I have owned.

Does the anti-theft system activate if you do this?

Ok, this appears to lock the doors but does not activate the auto-folding side mirrors. And as asked above, does it activate the security system?

Put another way, if you have to touch SOMETHING, doesn't it make more sense to touch the oval indentation on the driver's door (on the outside, after the door is closed...locking the car, activating security and folding the mirrors.

I love how you can lock the car by sliding your hand across the rear passenger door handle lock sensor. I use that the majority of the time even when I'm on the run and running late.

I'm usually at the passenger door by the time I close my door. I end up using the passenger door to lock the car.

If you forgot to lock it you could use the Enform app on your phone...not as convenient as touching the spot on the door handle but you wouldn't have to walk back to your vehicle.

I always assumed it does. Easy to test.

The security system is armed no matter how the vehicle is locked.

If if it is locked, it is armed.

Additional benefit of using the outside sensors to lock as opposed to
tapping the inside mechanical rocker is that if you have left your keys
in the car it will not lock. Pressing the inside rocker will lock with a
key inside.
You can lock without setting the alarm by moving the old fashioned
mechanical **** next to the inside door release lever. Just press
it in (the orange section that indicates vulnerable will be hidden).
