Water fording depth
The stock water fording depth of the Prado 150 is apparently around 27.56 inches. Not seeing on an official Toyota doc but stated here.

Prado owners tend to modify the air intake with a side snorkel, and reroute diff vent tubes into the engine bay to basically go ocean fording (lol)

I will have to check but i am pretty sure stock vent tubes for diffs and AT should easily handle that depth assuming someone was fording at the appropriate slow speed.

Stock for sure, I was implying the common owners go to modifications to basically make them rolling ships. The snorkel is gut wrenching tho, as it basically means cutting a CHUNK out of the front sheetmetal and the curves have to match up to the A pillar. The vent mod is not that bad as you have to basically extend the breather hose all the way up.

Yeah..not interested in turning mine into a submarine... I cringe when I think of the potential electrical gremlins that could occur from these water adventures you see in videos.
Breather hose extension looks to be easy.

I’m curious if there’s any long term issues with it.

As long as you keep moving, the wave in front of the bumper will direct water around your hood and very little water will penetrate the engine bay. If you stop or get stuck, then bad things start to happen. Usually it's the electronics in the kick panel that seal the deal and leave you stranded.
Often the diff and case breathers have a one way valve at the end of the hose to prevent water from being sucked back into the case, but I don't know if that's true for the current GX. For my Land Cruisers, the breathers have been extended up to the engine bay and the gas filler tube (front and rear, respectively).

Snorkel, lift kits, bumpers are all above an beyond what the GXes are used for. However its just fun knowing you have the capability on tap. The stares at the grocery store mehhh

That will change rapidly as more GX's fall below the $20k mark. The previous generation has a decent off road following - not at 4Runner levels - but it's cultish...

Seeing that off-road aftermarket is now coming on the scene with the 460 it will follow. High mileage 460's 10-13's can be had for around $20k if you look far enough. I've never been one to traverse water... I'm more into the rock and rough with very limited mud on a bad trails. Everyone has their likes though.

Everyone's so worried about having fun in their GX, but this thing is a beast even stock and can do things you wouldn't imagine in dirt with factory tires.
