Decided against it
Hey all!
Ive been lurking in the NX forum for some time now. The fiancé has been contemplating getting a NX200t since she loved the look of it. We're both mid twenties, relatively successful for our age, so she wanted something a little nicer than her 2010 Honda CRV. Her CRV was loaded with nav, but was darn close to 100k miles (I know nothing for these cars, had a 2002 Accord and put 200k on it no issue). So she's liked my GS, but likes her small SUV size better.
So we started browsing. Looked at several NX's in the area. Was hoping to find one from a private seller, but no go. The cars drove good, did notice the vibration issue mentioned on here, but the fiancé wasn't fazed. We got down to pricing on several of them and the numbers weren't seeming to work for me. We were looking at 2015 and 2016's with under 45k miles but no less than 20k miles. After being frustrated with mid $30k numbers, I started looking at the Toyota RAV4 Platinums... Because one thing that bothered me about the NX was the black cladding. Her CRV had it and in FL it fades quickly.
Long story somewhat short, ended up finding a 2017 Toyota RAV4 Platinum with 13k miles for ~$25k OTD. Think we got a darn good deal and same, if not more, options than the NX's we were trying to make work for her budget.
You guys really have a lot of info on this forum, and it's much appreciated!

Interesting. I had a 2017 Rav Limited. Traded it for a 2015 NX Fsport. I like the look of the NX much, much better. You are right about getting more stuff in your Rav. Lane assist, cruise control and all the safety stuff Toyota offer. You don’t have to put premium gas in the Rav. Enjoy the Rav you will love it.

RAV4 getting long in the tooth. HE could have stayed with the crappy CRV.

I've been an active member on the forum for several years now. Just wanted to give my experience in regards to our potential NX purchase. Was also wanting to thank everybody on the NX forum for the great input and plentiful amount of info in such a short time period of the car being out. Sorry if it didn't suit your fancy.

WOW. People here being super hostile just because he ended up going with a Rav4?
Laying out his thought process helps other people decide whether the NX is the right car for them. I'm sure there are many other people deciding between a NX and Rav4.

I saw no hostility. Post didn't really make much sense in NX forum.
That said, Saturday, I went to Toyota dealer with firm intention to buy 2017 XLE. Set in it. Looked around. And.... said NO. It's just not the car for the money.
Sales gal showed up, I told her my opinion, we walked through the used lot, meh, then I said - didn't you have a NX here somewhere? She said - sure, over there.
I set inside - and fell in love. That was it. Likely quite overpaid for it, but every time I open door and sit inside - my heart rejoices. I FEEL the money. She's beautiful. Even that stupid fascia I dissed so many times before suddenly looks nice. The clock itself...
Hope, this will be a counterbalance to OP and " Laying out his thought process helps other people decide whether the NX is the right car for them. "
