The new one looks like the face of a Transformer... but if you want to be seen to be "Ram tough", I suppose you could do worse. You would not want to be seen as too soft.

Both look great IMO, still wish they'd call them a Dodge though. Any bets on how big this thing will be on the rear tailgate? The current Ram emblem is already huge and some trim levels on the current truck don't have the emblem and just say RAM in huge 6" tall font.

That's kind of one thing I wish FCA would do is tone down the emblems and lettering on their trucks. I mean some of the higher spec models look like NASCAR on the door/front fender.

The good news is that, unlike ford, they do not put alignment holes behind their emblems so you can easily debadge without any issue. I completely debadged my longhorn (hated the belt buckle badges) since I couldn't care less if people know the trim level of the truck I drive.

I made no disparaging remarks about what others choose to do, but since you ask. If you are a show-off douche who wants to keep up with the Joneses and make certain everyone knows it, then nothing. If however you enjoy what you enjoy and prefer not to advertise it, then it is simple to debadge and I am glad I had the option because there were no alignment holes. It was the only thing I disliked about the truck and luckily with a little bit of effort could change it. So there you go, you know, since you asked.

No problem. I was just wondering out of curiosity....sorry if I misinterpreted your remark. My experience, though, the years, from what I've seen, is that the badge or logo on the vehicle that a person drives often has little or nothing to do with his or her income or social-status. Billionaires sometimes run around in 10-year-old Camry's or Accords (without a chauffeur LOL), while some of those who would otherwise have a hard time making ends meet spend every dime they can on a new vehicle trying to......well, impress the Joneses.

Main thing is I hate when they put more than one emblem on the side of the truck, makes it looked cluttered, and in the case of your Longhorn badge, rather garish and ostentatious. And on some Dodge trucks the emblems don't really match each other in font, font size, design, placement, they just look stuck on there with no thought at all, just something about haphazard design, even on little details like that drive me nuts.

Personally I really like what Toyota is doing with the new Tundra and Tacoma tailgates. Very clean design, but if you look closely, you'll see TOYOTA spelled out on the tailgate handle and TACOMA or TUNDRA actually stamped into the sheetmetal. Yes they still have V6 or 4x4 chrome emblems on some models, but I'd take them off. The stamped into the steel letters is a really neat touch IMO, you don't notice it at first, but its one of those little things that stands out IMO. It isn't some cheap *** plastic chrome badge like other trucks IMO.

Though both of the newer emblems are nice, I generally preferred it when Dodge used the actual Ram itself (real metal, not plastic), as a hood-ornament.

Those old 70's/80's Dodge truck hood ornaments are AWESOME!!!! Honestly you have to go back to the 1950's, maybe even the 1940's to find a hood ornament with that level of detail in it.
