2014 LS is this normal?
Going to purchase this vehicle. Just wondering if this welding is normal in truck under carpet. Also had moisture on the spare tire. They said it was condensation from the ice cold weather in upstate NY. Any one have experience with this?
Welding in upper right corner. Seemed a bit soft to touch, like silicone.

The silicone is normal, the condensation however would concern me potentially...
I would take the spare out and see if there is any water in the spare well, or any sign that there has been water in that well in the past.

I thoroughly checked the carpet and it was all dry. No odor either. Just wet on the tire and part of the rim. I looked with my flashlight and it seemed dry. The whole tire had what appeared to be Conde station.

Maybe from a accident or wreck?

If the car was outside in cold weather and then brought into a warm garage a small amount of condensation is normal.

During a recent 2 week stretch of subzero temps in my area I checked my spare out of curiosity as I was keen to know the age. Car was kept in an unconditioned detached garage during this time so sub freezing conditions for two weeks. There was no condensation at all when I looked at the spare so if the car was in the upstate cold the whole time the condensation is unusual to me.

Thanks for confirming. The difference here is that they brought the car into a heated garage from outside. So that could cause it I believe. It did appear to be condensation. If it was a leak, would have been more puddled.

If they brought it into a heated garage I agree with Nospin, it’s normal.

My '15 would drip water (passenger side) into the trunk whenever the lid was opened if it had rained. I had the dealer fix it at my 5k service. All OK now. Here is the service record...might be something for you to check also.

I would check the condition of the trunk seals. This is a known issue that they deteriorate and allow moisture in and it can ruin your amp. Cleaning and conditioning these seals is smart preventive care. Shin Etsu silicon product I have recommended for years. There are others I am sure are good. Don't clean the rubber with harsh chemicals, use mild soap and warm water, dry, apply silicon to rubber and massage into the rubber while wearing rubber gloves. Don't want it on your skin. Wipe off obvious excess but don't wipe clean. This applies to all the rubber seals on the vehicle. Obviously if bad then replace the whole seal.

If they did any detailing, they may have washed the spare tire and wheel and then stored it wet. As it seems they also sprayed silicone on it, this would be my guess.
