Battery Replacement
I had a dead Group 24 battery that was under warranty, which I removed, took back and received a replacement Group 24 battery. When I put the battery cover on the replacement, it was very loose. The replacement Group 24 battery 1/2" less wide, and at least an 1" taller. When attempting to attach the holding brackets, I found that because the replacement battery is taller, the original brackets will not work. Has anyone else experience this and what is the solution? And a special order battery is not a solution.

I had the same problem when I replaced my first battery a few years ago.. I used a small rubber wedge to keep the battery in place and I left the bracket off. I replaced that battery about five months ago I did it the same way. It wasn't a issue for me. I guess Lexus or Toyota would be the place to get the right size battery.

Lots of battery information here that will help with questions about size:

In looking at older posts, the height of Group 24 batteries is listed as 6 5/8" or slightly higher, but in all cases, less than 7". The new Group 24 batteries are at least 8" tall, which is why the bracket won't fit. Certainly there is a solution other than leaving the bracket off.

Thanks all for your response. Here is the reality. Group 24 batteries (for the 2007 Lexus LS-460) are an inch taller (8") than the original equipment, which was 6 15/16" inches tall. However, if you throw the battery cover away, it is possible to cram the bracket down over the new 8" tall battery.

I believe that the LS460s that are configured with the "cold weather package- PTC seat heating" option come with an OEM battery that is closest to Size 34 which is 1" shorter than the Size 24. That may account for your bracket fit difficulty.
