These service codes are sometimes like trying to read Chinese. I can't decipher what they're trying to say here but maybe another forum member can. Otherwise, why don't you just call the service department at this dealer and ask about the event? They can look it up or at least tell you what it entailed. Good Luck my friend...

It might not be the case, but it sounds like some kind of paint prep but unlikely the service dept, would do it. I agree with bc6152, call the dealership and ask for their help in explaining.

Called the dealership and they said no idea. I am tempted to .call again and ask for the service manager. What questions should I be asking?

ended up pressuring the service department manager who said the vehicle had a $5500 repair for front end collision in February 2016 covered by Allstate
all vin websites show no accidents

There had to be fairly extensive damage in that collision. Typically, on an ES, the bumper and grille can be replaced, the bumper can be refinished, assorted sensors, trim, and clips can be replaced after a front-end collision for somewhere between about $2500 and $3500. If the repair bill on that one was $5500, the damage had to extend into the fenders and/or into components, like the radiator, beyond the bumper.

More often than not, accidents do not appear on a CarFax or other vehicle history report. They only appear if a law enforcement agency, insurance company, or repair shop submits a report, and, more often than not, reports are not submitted.

So, the bottom line is that, if any accident appears on a vehicle history report, you know that it did happen, but, if no accidents appear on the report, there is no way, from the report, to be confident that there was, in fact, no accident history for that vehicle.

This thread, as long as it is, is a perfect reason for buyer to beware and do due diligence before plunking down hard earned money hoping to get a worry-free vehicle.
Also kudos to everyone on here that helped in arriving at this resolution. This forum is indeed a valuable tool.

I will continue with my questions don't want to start a new thread every time
As many of you may already know, I am looking buy a car for my elderly parents
I found another nice 14 es at a fair price with 44k miles with remaining basic warranty
BUT the ES is base and I mean totally base with absolutely nothing added and as the sales manager told me, everyone who has looked at it in the last 4 months has turned away to due to no nav
this car has no screen, no wood, no heated seats, nothing but looks clean
would you buy it?

Though I'm still a ways off, I'm not liking the fact that you refer to people in their mid 60's as "elderly".
