Pull the battery lead for about a min. This will reset it. You will have to re-iitialize your power windows. Just push the switches up for a second. (yeah this is odd ... sticky for it posted).

Reset the computer like 17gx460 said by disconnecting the battery a few minutes. If the lights come back, look at replacing the gas cap (seriously). The air leak causes the computer to light those lights.

Go to advance store or whatever and use their code reader to see what it is first! Mine was coming on and the code was for SMALL evap leak like twice in a row--gas cap did not feel right so ordered a new one and BAM good to go!!!!

nWhat code is triggering the CEL? If you dont figure that out and address it will come right back.

Buy an OBD2 scanner off Amazon and read the code. Once you address the issue, the scanner will let you delete the CEL.

Amazon Amazon

Often, auto parts stores will read codes for free.

All, forgive my ignorance, I have searched this forum to no end...can someone in layman’s terms layout the oxygen sensors on the 1st Gen GX 470. I took my 2004 to O’Riley auto parts because of the CEL, VSC OFF and VSC TRAC...code read bank 1 sensor 2...when the tech pulled up the sensors in his system...all it said was left or right sensor...his system for what ever reason did not say what sensor went to what bank...I can clearly see the sensor on the driver side directly “down from the driver side door just before the bend in the exhaust that goes toward the passenger side...what bank and sensor is this? I can also see the sensor on the passenger side in roughly the same location. I have changed these before on a 2003 bmw 325i in which I was able to find a complete diagram and video as to what bank and sensor location. Not so much luck here...although I’m sure it’s posted somewhere?

I have the exact same warning lights on a 2006 gx470 that I bought about 2 years ago for a family member. I took it to a shop (no Lexus dealership where I live) the codes indicated that there was an EVAP system leak, so they ran a smoke test on the EVAP system. They said the EVAP cansiter was leaking, so they replaced it along with a new gas cap. Lights came back on about 2 weeks later. This time, based on some advice, I replaced the purge valve myself and reset the fault codes. Lights came back on about 2 weeks later again. It's kicking off the following codes; P043E, P043F, P2401, P0402, P2419.

Anyone have any experience with this issue? My last resort is to take it to the Toyota dealership which I'm afraid may end being a long expensive process.

I was reading an article about the GX470. Does it have 4 o2 sensors in the exhaust system?
Reading, it looks like 2 upper, left and right, 2 lower left and right, does that sound correct?

Thanks,

Bryan

Except for some very early 2003's, yes.
