LS460 wouldn't start. Message said put it in park. It was in park. Had it towed to Lexus dealer. Mice had chewed through the wire to the switch that tells the 'puter when it is in park. The wire runs on top of the transmission, so they had to remove the exhaust system and drop the transmission to get at it. $1121.61. Do whatever it takes to keep the rodents away from your vehicle.

I live in a rural wooded area and I use FRESH CAB packets that do a good job at keeping the mice away, I place them under the hood and in the trunk to keep these pests away.
Google FRESH CAB and see where you can buy these in your area.

BTW! You may be able to submit the repair bill for "mouse damage" to your insurance company...... Think vandalism!

Did you try start the car in Neutral and then drove it to dealership to get fixed? Might of been able to start on that position if the mouse didn't get into that wire also. At this point probably to late. Might have saved you a tow

I feel your pain. That damn thing also chewed my wires leading to the gas tank. $500 later and it is as good as new.

Mice are the worst! Did some damage to my wife's car last year...still haven't got the smell out of that car (got inside and built a nest in the air vent).

I did google it and it read, "Fresh Cab pouches are made with a blend of plant fiber and botanical extracts that, while pleasant for you, will offend rodents." In today's world I'm really concerned about offending anyone.

Seriously though, I had never heard of this product. I think I will give it a try. Thanks for the info.

The LS sits in a garage next to my Dodge SRT Charger while our Ford Explorer and Chevy Silverado sit outdoors...... NO mice in the cars for the last 10 years since I placed the Fresh Cab packs in them. Before Fresh Cab I used dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap and peppermint oil to keep the mice out along with a outdoor cat. You can always place a few glue traps along the fire wall and on top of the battery to catch these mice but the traps do not repel them.
Fresh Cab smells like a Christmas tree but mouse stench (dead and alive) is the worse smell so take your pick of the two choices.

I had only had mine for about 2 weeks when this happened. The prior owner lived near a lake and kept it in a detached garage most of the time. When I first picked it up i stored it in my attached garage for a bit and drove my other car prior to selling it. I don't think this happens to many daily drivers, more so to cars that sit periodically.

Fresh Cab? I'll have to try that. I've used dyer sheets before and they don't work in my area, that's for sure...the mice actually made their nest out of them.

So for those that put dryer sheets or the other packets under the hood is there any particular place you put them and do you take them out each time driving or leave them? I know I know awful dumb question right?
