Right side rear caliper again and again
2006 IS250, 165K. I`m on my 5th set of calipers on the right rear. What really is going on here? The only thing ,that's sort of unusual after each new installment is how tight the bottom pin is. The one that goes inside the hole of a brake pad. Should I make that hole bigger to allow the pad to travel more freely? Why is this problem only on the right rear? What else can I do next week when I install another refurbished one from Auto Zone? And yes, I always do put proper amount of brake grease on the moving parts.

Common problem with our cars ithe seized calipers. Honestly the only solution I can think of to fully solve the problem will be upgrading to a BBK. Some people are more lucky than others with replacement intervals

5 sets of calipers? I have about the same mileage and still have the stock calipers. I've changed the pads maybe 3 times and rotors once. Are you changing the rest of the brake hardware as well when changing the calipers? What about the dust boots etc over the pins? What's the issue you're having that you're changing the calipers, Do they just seize up or start to stick?

Are these auto zone refurbished calipers the same as remanufactured oem units? If it's just an autozone branded caliper maybe that might be the problem? just guessing

I've used anti-seize in the past and it usually washes off or gets filled up with brake dust and gunk in my experience. I just realized you were talking about the brake pad pins and not the typical IS250 lower slide pin issue, but anyways I personally take out the brake pad pins, clean them off with brake cleaner, use steel wool to clean off the pins and the holes, and I relube generously with "Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme" every winter > spring or fall > winter transition with no issues so far. I assume you do all this already, but just my input on the topic

As for the strut, ehhh, if they're original, they're bound to leak at your mileage. I replaced the drivers side rear over the summer because mine started leaking @ 130k.

I'd like to imagine the calipers were not sealed very well when they were refurbished. I imagine your northeastern climate really kills them during the winter. Of course, they seem to happen to everybody regardless of climate though (climates near oceans and climates that use salt in the winter tend to have them fail more often). I've only replaced the rear drivers side so far on my 350.

I took one off a wrecked 350 in a junkyard to keep them the same for now, set me back $80 I think, I needed one in a hurry so I just bought it. I forgot about a guy selling both of his rear ones here in the classifieds though for nearly the same price in my area at the time and I still kick myself over that since his had much lower milleage and I could of just replaced both of the rears and not worry about them.
