Default CPO ‘15 IS 350 F Sport - first time car buyer

New to car buying and after much googling I’ve noticed the process for buying a CPO car is a bit different. I was hoping to get some help from this forum so I don’t get ripped off. So here’s what I know so far.

Car is listed at $35.8k by the dealer vs market price they have listed at $39.8k. What’s a reasonable OTD price? It has 26,000 miles. I can google what fees to avoid but feel free to list those anyway. I’d rather save money than not at all. Fees I know are the standard TTL. Fees such as destination fee, dealer prep, car advertisement should be watched out for correct? Car is in California.

My OTD price for a 14' CPO was 36,032, which included some work that needed to be done on it and I purchased the car with approx 38K miles on it. I will be able to take advantage of a 50K tune-up by Lexus, which runs about 1k. Also, I had a bit of a different issue. My former Lexus was flooded in Houston after Harvey and I had to get a car. My options for a CPO F-Sport was either buy it from a local autostore in Houston or ship/drive to another city to buy a car and drive it back. If I had shipped it out, it would have come to about the same price. My pre-OTD was around 32,500.

How many miles are on the one you're looking at?

Sorry to hear about your original car and damn, Harvey was just terrible... The car I’m looking at has 26,000 miles on it. So I guess I should expect a number a bit higher than yours... hmmm

I would just throw out 35K OTD and see if they bite..That's basically what I did.

Its also a 2015 so that will make it more expensive. The 2015 model year has had less issues than the 2014s so i'd recommend that for sure. Also comes with ventilated seats which was missing in the 2014 model.

Going to attempt to negotiate today. Think I could get $1k off by requesting to remove the CPO warranty? I honestly dont think it needs it, but if other members here know better. Please do chime in. I will be posting LIVE if at all possible. Stay Tuned (dont ask how).

I think having that CPO warranty is worth more than the $1K. This car has a ton of electronics and if anything breaks, it’s stupid expensive to fix.
