Please stop posting new threads in the Detailing Forum regarding your mechanical issues. I will move these to the ES forum section where this information belongs....

OK, what I think you are saying is that you had shifting problems. A mechanic worked on it and did something to the valve body but then it failed two days later.

Probably he changed a shift solenoid, which I understand fails often on earlier Aisin/toyota transmissions (what year is your car?) More the "A" models in the 90s than "U" and later "A" models after ~2002 from what I know (I am not a professional mechanic, just an amateur/hobby one). I have rebuilt transmission and understand them in general principal. I am not an expert. But, to me, on a 90s ES, that is a very logical place to look for a problem. What does he now say?

Possibly the replacement solenoid was bad, he changed the wrong one, or there is a more serious issue with burnt clutch discs. Was the transmission low on fluid/leaking? (that makes burned discs more likely).

The "solenoid" is an electrically operated valve that creates hydraulic pressure that "commands" the actual shift. They work (usually) in pairs. he might have changed the wrong solenoid. Or the problem could be in the gears/clutches themselves and not in the valve/solenoid.

A line pressure test via the test port would clarify things. That would be the very first diagnostic step in my opinion.

Props to Oro for deciphering the posts I had little to no idea what SayoNelson was talking about.
