Default Stereo Upgrade

I'm planning on upgrading the Stereo in my 2015 NX200t and documenting the process for others who are thinking of doing the same.

Base model
  • No Nav
  • No Factory Sub
  • 8 Total Speakers
Agenda below:

that'is strange it does not seems that the Hu has separate power for tweeter and woofer . The tweeter and woofer come from the same amplifier . Theu are 2 stereo amplifiers >>>for front & the rear , in total we have 8 sepakers (4 tweeters and 4 woofer for Front /rear)

Ramses,

I'm only amplifying the front, don't really care about the rear. that chart only has the speakers I'm connecting I removed the others to make the diagram simplified.

Worked on Power and Dash Tweeters this weekend.

** The wire color code changes between the amp out a dash front speakers, plus you have 4 wires 2 of which are not used.

Installed the JL Audio Fix82 and calibrated the summed factory amp output channels (Dash Mid/Tweet - Front Door Woofers)

I'm combining factory amp output (high level) using only channel 1-4. You can see a graphical representation of ingress (Red/Violet Line) and combined fixed egress (Orange Line)

That's good ...
But in my opinion if you look after the 2 curves ,you will realise that the "stock tweeters" are not tweeters , these are 'mid-tweet' , the crossover point is located beetween 1.2k and 2.5k .That seems a litle low for this kind of tweeter, that is why i fitted a coaxial first and after that i am going to 3 way with the ODR set up ...
The better set-up to get a correct sound stage ,is to begin at 300hz <> 800hz to the mid (= high pass for the dash ).
Even if the focal kit surpasses the oem speajers, the original kit will always have a better "staging" due to the crossovers frequency.

There is a 2/3 way interesting speakers set that exists :
ts-c1736s CARROZZERIA

http://pioneer.jp/carrozzeria/speake...36s_ts-c1630s/
this tweeter design is like having a midrange dome with a tweeter and it is setted to be at 800hz

and if you are a Focal Fan why not going to 3 way

Thanks for the detailed information, once I get it all up and working I'll run in through its paces, if I'm dissatisfied with the staging I'll rip it out and start over. I've done this exact speaker configuration before and never had an issue.

Processors are done. I set the routing/crossover/delay/and levels on the fly with no measurement tools.

As a SQL judge and competitor for MECA, USACI, IASCA I much prefer a well placed and natural sound stage over having a flat frequency response with an RTA. It was always easier to tune a stereo with a flat response with pink noise, than have a well placed sound stage that accurately replicated instruments and vocals. I had two Eq/time delay settings for these competitions.

But, BRAVO to the OP for what he's doing!

As a side note, do you guys feel the dash is deep enough and the windshield is sloped well enough with respect to the driver's seat to recreate a sound stage that it sounds like it's coming from outside the car on the hood? I've been itchy to determine if it's worth the investment. Lol my wife would say no, but the audiophile in me wants to rip it all out and do something like the OP and some......

All the pictures and examples I'm posting are within hours of getting everything installed, I flat frequency curve is not what I'm after nor should anyone strive for a flat response.

I have a 3 inch mid in the factory tweeter location and find there are major dips so building pillars will be my next project. So I don't recommend putting a mid or tweeter in there.
