Default Need hid input for ls460 retrofit setup

What's going on CL, just got a set of high and low beam ls460 projectors and going to retrofit them for my GS. Also received the low beam projector brackets from luxury mods and will try to custom fab for the high beams. If they come out bad, I'm just going to leave the high beams alone which I really don't want to lol.

Been doing some searching for the maximum light output for my retrofit project. I was looking to obtain the 50w ballasts and 6500k 50w hid setup for Morimoto but don't know how their quality is. So I'm here asking you retrofit guys on your experience or anyone who has experience on a good set of hid lights. I'm willing to pay for a good set, just need to see the choices out there. Thanks!

HID is HID. I've bought the $150 Phillips and the $5 made in china, the only difference is how long they last and its true color.

As for your high beams, good luck on that. If I remember correctly, the LS460 ports for the bulbs are on the side rather than right behind. I believe that causes a problem, not to mention their depth. Theres not a lot of clearance in the high beam housing.

Oh and as for the 50w, I've heard they stain your lenses. Not sure the validity on that though.

All of my research seemed to conclude not to get 50W, but stick with 35W.

Yeah the high beam sockets are on the side. Might have to scratch those projectors and get a different projector setup for the high beams with pre made brackets.

I have a set of eBay 55w hid kit and I just feel they're not bright enough. Also have them in the fogs as well but never been flashed for the brightness on opposite side. Also no damage to the headlights from lights. Maybe they're 35w?

I've got a set of Ls460 high beam projectors sitting in a box for years because it was going to take a ton of hacking to fit them in the high beam housing. I had the same hope as you but it was going to take way more work than I was willing to do, mainly cutting up the back of the housing which I didn't really want to do.

If you've got the current HID kit in reflectors (stock halogen or HID) you can totally discount the wattage as a factor. The stock reflectors suck, even the HID, I had a LS460 low beam retrofit with xenondepot 6000k bulbs and stock ballasts and it was all I could ask for as far as output. I didn't see any need for more than 35 watts as I was lighting up the opposite ditch on 4 lane freeways with a median as bright as I could want. I've had stock HID, Q45 retrofit, and LS460 with clear lens retrofit, you won't be disappointed with the LS460 output.

Kyle is right on the LS460 projectors with the clear lense and it is very bright. It shine all 4 lane refectors bright on the highway. Not many cars high beam me for being too bright. I bought the LS460 projectors from him and I am very happy with the look on my car. Thanks Kyle for the sale and I am one happy camper! Also Kyle did you buy the rubber covers for the LS460 projectors and if you did where did you buy them. Or if anyone can give me any advice to buy them that is easy to install them yourself. Thank you all in advnace!

Glad you're enjoying them, I gotta say I miss the output sometimes! I been using plastic caps since my 1st retrofit, I don't remember what they're actually used for or where they came from. I have used the rubber boots from theretrofitsource.com before on other Q45 retros, I'd check with them as they should work for the 460s as well.

I just recently installed my LS460 Retros and need to adjust the alignment. Would this DIY be enough?

Well I don't have the LS460 projectors. I have the LS430 projectors instead. & bulbs I went with CBI 35w 5500k bulbs. U can't go wrong with these bulbs. Pure white light that's bright & the beam spread is sooooo wide it's ridiculous. CBI 35w bulbs 5500k is where to go. Also use oem denso ballast to keep your bulbs from flickering

I have the ls430 retro too and the wide angle is flippin awesome but the length of light out put in front of the car is sub par. I am going to readjust the lights again, but is this common for anyone else?
If you look at the picture above the out put is fantastic but it does not shoot that far/as far as I would like down the road.

I tried adjusting my ls460 retros last night without paying attention to the bubble (mainly cause I couldn't remove one of the screws off the cover. Pulled the car out into the street and pointed the car at the house across the cul de sac. The beam looked way too high lol. I was maybe... idk 100ft away and the beam was halfway up the first floor. I'm probably blinding people. I'll try again this weekend.

Got pics of how yours looks? I'd like to compare. One maybe 10-15 feet from your garage and one while on level ground in the street?

I'm not sure if this will help or not. LS430 with clear lens and CBI's from 60ft away. Parking lot was not completely flat as you can see lol. I kinda feel the same about them not having the best down the road distance, but you can't beat the width
I think part of the reason is the clear lens that makes it kinda sketchy distance wise, since with them it's just black above the cutoff. The stock fresnel lens allows a little light above the cutoff.Need hid input for ls460 retrofit setup-photo78.jpgNeed hid input for ls460 retrofit setup-photo337.jpg

Here's my car in my driveway slanted down a little. I raised mine up just a tab bit to the point I'm not blinding oncoming traffic. But the width is stupid wide.
