Hey guys, been a member here for awhile but couldn't login for some reason.... Anyways,been going back in forth on buying a new DD. Looking at everything from the IS,GS, a VW GTI, Golf R, hondas, and even a Ford focus RS.

Hondas seem really boring, cant see myself paying 34k+ for a focus despite 350hp. Reliability is a concern cause I'm gonna drive it till the wheels fall off more than likely which brings me to my post... Looking at L/cert 2015 IS250 f-sport 29k miles, navi. It's a park place dealer here in tx. Asking $29,800.00. High or Bout average sales price? Thanks

Not enough info. What condition is the paint, interior, mechanically, etc?

I have not viewed the car in person yet as I just had a surgery completed. From look of pics I'd say the car is a 8/10. I'm sure there's something I can't see on online pics. Interior seems to pretty clean. Not sure on mechanical stuff. I would assume pretty good for being L/cert

I'd say the other cars are better in terms of driving experience vs a 250. The engine is minivan slow and not worth it. If you want fun, you'll have to upgrade to the 350 F-Sport as that variation comes with Avs.

Yeah I've test drove a 250 awhile back. It was really slow but not to a point where I hated it. Reliability, looks, mpg, speed is how I'd rate my buying process for a DD

The 3.5L is more reliable because it has both direct and port injection which prevents carbon buildup. The mpg vs a 2.5L isn't much different too. You also get a better transmission with a RWD 350 as it comes with the 8 speed.

Didn't know that on the 350. I've read about the carbon build up issues but didn't realize it went into the 2014+ models.

As as to the IS 250 being "slow" sure on paper it is, in reality I am never going to track the car. So that leaves street racing like a god damn moron and well ****, no and. Because it doesn't matter unless you want to risk other people's life on the street/freeway and to be honest where I live in CA it's low speed limits and bumper to bumper traffic. So buy the best looking DD that you find the most comfortable. Out of what you listed that would be the Lexus's, to me.

Even though I love my Lexus, I have been admiring the new Honda Civic Type R. It has 306HP and looks very fun to drive!

Yeah I've been eyeing that new Honda.. it does look it will be very fun to drive. I read where pricing will prob be 34k which is not bad but won't have the comfort features I like that lexus has. I'm sure there will be a dealer markup at first to as hot as that car will be once released.
I get the 250 on paper looking slow but not racing from the above post. The one I drove seemed fine for what I'd use it for although I could see where another 100 hp would be fun for only a -2mpg difference.

It's not about racing. The 2.5L feels unsatisfying even pulling away from most stops. The 3.5L has sufficient torque to feel like a luxury experience when daily driving it while I feel the 2.5L feels overwhelmed by the weight of the car (which is kinda heavy). Do yourself a favor and test drive them back to back. For me, there is a big difference between the driving experience. Also, the F sport in the 350 is a much better package as it comes with AVS for improved handling.

I come from riding R1's and R6's. All cars are unsatisfying pulling away from stops or passing. I also play with and build classic's so 500 plus HP / Torque in a 66 Mustang that weighs in at 2700ish lbs. All new cars are boring when compared, but they are also reliable in all weather, can carry my kids, and get great MPG. Nothing wrong with the IS 350. Have a great time with it and sure you can blow the doors off my IS 250 if we both went to the track, but for DDing why? Why spend the extra money on the car, fuel, insurance, etc. We are all sitting in the same traffic going 15 mph or at dead stop. (God I hate the 405)

Ha yeah I can't imagine the traffic on 405. In dfw where I'm at our traffic has become a lot worse since a bunch of companies have came here from out west. My "fun" car has 950-1220whp depending on what setting I run it on so for a DD I could be fine with either. My main objective is to get the best price for a car with all or most features I'd like with lowest amount of miles.
