Default isf stoptech pads leaving a residue on rotor after washing

Each time i finish washing my isf, and don't drive it immediately to dry off to rotor and pads, residue from the pad gets caked on the rotor so that when you brake, it feel like the rotor is badly warped. it is very difficult to get rid of. even after a number of hard stops, it doesn't fully go away.

i have heard a few members also having the same issue. what is it about their pads that do this?

no it's not. it's an imprint of just the pad. i did a google search and a lot of people have this issue with the stoptech street pad.

stoptech is aware of the issue.

Sounds like an incorrect bedding issue to me.

Stoptech pads are awful. Dusty, noisy and yes, the same thing happened to me and it was like braking with gravel in your calipers to get that crud off of your rotors. The first time it happened to me I thought something was seriously wrong with my car bc it vibrated so badly on braking.

I have stop tech pads and rotors and I can't stand the squeaking. Having less dust is nice though.

Definitrly not. I can attest that after every wash, if the pads don't get a chance to heat up it will leave a heavy deposit. Strangely enough, doesn't happen after rainy days. Only after washes.

Less dust than what?? The Stoptechs are super dusty!

^ I agree. I am quite disappointed with these pads. I will give them credit for lasting longer than the factory ones as I can't seem to wear them out quick enough. But the dust load is marginally less than the stock ones which doesn't say much, they squeal, and this residue imprint shenanigans after every wash is bs. I will not buy this pad again.

As mentioned above, it only happens after a wash. I guess not enough moisture builds up on the pad when you drive it in the rain.

I used to have the F-Sport BBK on my IS250, which was manufactured by Stoptech - worst performing brakes in terms of noise/vibration/brake feel I've ever had.

I can attest that these pads are terrible. Mine squeals like a freight train. I need to get rid of them asap even though I've only used them for less than 10k miles.

In stoptechs defense, I paid $100 shipped to Canada for their pads. I too am not happy with their product. Even at 1/3 the cost of other pads, these don't cut it at any level. Dust, noise and feel.

Stoptechs here. Followed their bedding process to a "T" which wasn't easy. No squeal, less dust (over oem), excellent braking performance. No problems with washing except expected rust residue on rotors.

The only problem I have is some dust appears to be embedded in parts of my wheels (powder coated) a bit earlier than expected. I am an avid washer as well. If you use these pads I'd suggest keeping a close eye on your wheels.

I was set on getting these pads too but seems like I'll be reverting to the Textars instead.

I had the exact same problem with the Stoptech street pads and rotors. Mine would literally be glued to the rotor after washing the car and parking it in the garage. Would take several days of driving to completely burn of the pad imprint residue. Ended up switching to Raybestos rotors and Powerstop carbon ceramic pads and couldn't be happier.
