Post Is the LS your Beater or your Pride and Joy?

Hey folks -

Don't know how to do a poll on here.. so let's just discuss..

How many of you are using your LS as your "beater" aka daily driver vs..

How many of you see your LS being your one-true-love?

+1 for beater for me (but i want to keep her looking and running right)

Its a car, I bought it to drive every day. Still in no way a "beater". A 2005 Honda Accord with a soup can muffler, janky lowering job, and salvage title is a beater. A 2011 LS460, even daily driven is a "nice car".

Drive mine every day, its a great car to drive every day.

I love it, but "my one true love"...not sure I would go that far. Its entirely possible I am just past the point in my life where any car could be that great a focus in my life. Don't get me wrong, clearly I post here and it gets dusted every day and washed every week!

It's the best vehicle I've ever owned. I keep it running good and well maintained. No door dings, paint, interior and chrome wheels still look new. Not my daily driver and more of a weekend or highway car that I'm happy to own.

Mine is somewhat of my dream car, so I will say its pride and joy forsure, but it is my daily driver work vehicle as well.

I buy cars to drive them , I will never buy a car and let it sit or say its too good for this and too good for that ..I buy it to drive, rain or sunshine, night or day, its there to drive and enjoy.

Mine is a daily. It use to be my pride and joy, now its just a car that gets me from point a to b. Haven't had it washed or interior cleaned in awhile, Working on a plan to get it back to its former glory. Its just after spending so much on a body kit and then breaking the front bumper a week into it, Waiting months to get wheels fixed and then getting them back still not fixed. I think about getting rid of her every now and then and realize that I wont find anything as comfortable riding for what I'm willing to spend.

I agree, I like to drive my cars. That's one big reason why I've never bought a third car or a fun car, because I wouldn't drive it much and what's the point in that?

I bought my car to drive. But I bought it because I love it. Working from home keeps me from being in my 460 on a daily basis. So that just makes me love it even more every time I get inside. Last week we had a repair guy over to put a new fan blade under warranty in our refrigerator. As he was coming through the garage, he said: "Is that a 2014"? (he only saw it from the back). When I told him it was an 08 he looked at me like I was lying. I don't have to tell you, the LS460 is one nice ride.

+1 for daily drive. Wouldn't say a beater but also not a "pride and joy" Its a car.

Driven as a car, on sports mode all the time since i believe a machine needs to be used to its fullest capability/ potential as appropriate.

Like most others here, I live in the middle. It's a DD, not in perfect shape, but I keep it well maintained and as clean as possible at all times. I baby it, but I wouldn't be crushed if something terrible happened to it. It's a mass-produced vehicle with many examples still on the road, not terribly difficult to replace with another that I'd be just as happy in.

Daily driver, pristine condition (even my 1999 RX300 couldn't be called a "beater")!

My LS was my daily driver and essentially my fourth "child". It got a lot of my attention. Now, I'm in a Land Cruiser as my daily driver and the LS sits in the garage. The ride is very different, less luxury, but suits our family better. I will sell this LS and in 5 or 6 years get a new model. I will miss the V-8 engine. I'm sure the new V-6 will be more powerful, but louder and rougher and likely more maintenance as a twin turbo. As others have said, the end of an era.

But now I can run into those potholes I used to avoid, take my kids and toys offroad, and I find much fewer folks cutting me off on the freeway. I have to drive slower, so less tickets. A silver lining to every cloud.

I found owning a smooth Lexus paired with the rough riding vette to be the perfect balance for me, two polar opposite style of cars made it two completely different driving experiences and it was really fun.

I wouldn't be able to understand getting a second lexus or another luxury car, no point in that id rather just drive the LS I agree.

My LS is my daily driver and the car I absolutely love. I put about 30-50k miles per year on a car, so they all become my "beater" to a degree. I have owned an LS for the last 10 years and wouldn't want to rack up miles on anything else (maybe a LX570). I get reimbursed by my company at $.52/mile (think that's right) and since I buy used with cash and these cars require very little maintenance, it is effectively another source of minor revenue for me.
