Who is the "they" that has suppressed and oppressed your opinion about your key fob?

what sort of key fob excites and invigorates you?

So what? Who cares? Fobs are in your pocket most of the time anyway, out of sight, where you don't have to look at them.

^ boring isn't as big of a problem as poor ergonomics. That looks aweful. Is that the current fob? I like knowing what button I'm pressing by feel without taking my keys out of my pocket. This looks like a cheap rental car key.

Lexus is no longer boring! Is that acceptable?

I rent cars every week and don't get rental car keys like that from Hertz At best I get a crappy switchblade style. Certainly doesn't unlock the car when I walk up to it, doesn't start it remotely, etc.

Don't get me wrong, not a fan of the latest Lexus fobs but comparison above is a bit out of whack.

What don't you like about the pop-out style, Dave? For vehicles with the older key/ignition type of starting, where you insert the key and twist it, I think the pop-out, switch-blade style (which VW started a number of years ago and some other automakers, including GM, copied) is actually a good compromise.....it gets the sharp, protruding part of the package out of the way so it is easier and more comfortable to carry it in your pocket.

(I'll grant you, though, it's not as nice as having push-button starts with an electronic fob).

I've had the switchblade keys on both my non-push start non-keyless Audi A4 and S4. I actually really liked the switchblade vs traditional turn key. Of course, I'm now spoiled and anything less then keyless is plebeian. Regardless, the Toyota Yaris that I rented for $60 one time had a turn key with remote buttons on it. Each button had a distinct shape so I could tell what I was pushing without looking at it. That's more than I can say for this piece of junk pictured.

With Exception to to LS, LC, GX, and CT which the former two use new designs and the latter two the old rounder but smooth design, all new Lexus use the above design. HOWEVER these fobs use the smooth plastic from the old one instead (above picture is one of those 2013 GS F-Sport stock photos). Lexus had a quick turn around (about a 1.5 years), switching back to the smoother plate after a huge out cry, by forum members, and Lexus Advisory Board. I too despised the rough cheap plastic hah, but praised Lexus for changing it last year.
