Audi Q5 ad takes a swipe at the Lexus RX
A clever ad.....considering that the Q5 itself, of course, is not exactly inconspicuous. They don't mention the RX by name, but make reference to it in images.

LMAO so they show a Satin Cashmere RX with the standard 18" wheels to portray it as boring. Interesting considering most other manufacturers vehicles including Audi's look like jellybeans. Most RX's come in different colors and 20" wheels, which makes them stand out in a parking lot, so nice try Audi.

Both the Lexus and Audi have petty conspicuous grilles.....the Lexus probably more so.

I don't think it's a smart comparison. The Q5 seems on the small side compared to the RX. Not talking about dimensions, but just visually on the road. At the very least, the RX appears wider.

Actually, it is a bit ironic. The new A4 is measuring out to be one of the best sports sedans in a long time. Yet it can't seem to win first place in anything due to lack of passion and soul. So if anyone knows about boring...

I don't think I would ever buy one (sis in law just did recently), but at least it comes in a stick when most of the competition does not ($0 cost option pleeeeze). Hard for them to shake the FWD stigma imho.

This happens all the time in auto (and truck advertising), nothing new. On looks alone I'd take the Q5 over the RX but the point of these ads are to get people to talk and think about the vehicle.

It's also not all about appearance. As a current owner of an RX, it is the most boring car I've ever owned, and among the most boring I've ever driven. The very definition of a soulless transportation appliance. Since that's Toyota's target market with it, that's fine, and it sells in incredible numbers as a result. But speaking only for ourselves, we definitely don't want another one, and are looking at the Q7 3.0T and SQ5 as potential replacements. Both are significantly faster, more comfortable, and more entertaining to drive than the RX.

Plenty of others seem to be taking their chances with both the RX and Q5. SUVs are pretty much taking over the market nowadays.
I like the new Lacrosse (just ordered one)....and newer Buicks in general. I had a used big full-size Buick in college (many years ago, in the early 70s) and loved it....though their quality was crap from the mid-1970s up till around the time of GM's bankruptcy and buyout. Since the buyout, they are a completely transformed company again. If you notice, though, my large signature-shield has logos from all over the industry, and says "Let's Talk Cars"(Seize, a CL moderator, gets most of the credit.....he actually helped me design it years ago). As a car enthusiast (a car enthusiast, not necessarily a speed enthusiast), I review almost any mass-produced vehicle on four wheels (within reason), and talk about anything on wheels.
why do you have a tri-shield avatar?
