Default help please

hey guys so i posted this in the suspension forum but haven't gotten any responses, hope someone can help me here.

this was my post:

hey so i want to get some of the KYB shocks for my 2006 GS430 (if someone has a rec for a better brand im open to it but from what i've read the KYB are the best option).

i need a set of rear shock absorbers and while i do have the AVS i want to just get the non AVS shocks since i never use the AVS function and dont want to spend the extra $400.

can anyone help me out with what the correct part number is and perhaps a good place to get them online?

thanks so much.

Tucker,

I was in the same situation earlier this year and end up replacing both rear shocks with the KYB non-avs shocks. I order them from rockauto.com. Here is the part number
551108....cost is about $85 each which is much better than paying $400 for the avs. Hope this helps.

Why not just buy some adjustable Megans or BCR's? I have a friend who put BCR coilovers on his car and the car rode pretty comfortable!

i think (last I checked) the price for them ranged from $600-900. You also get the option of adjustability if you want a more comfortable ride rather than be stuck with the KYBs.

Just some food for though. GL!

Have you found out if the 551108 will fit. I have a 06 gs430 with the exact same situation & I've been reading for hours yes & no.

My car is an 08 GS460 equipped with the AVS option ....back in January of this year I replaced both rear shocks and the front left. The parts I ordered are:

55108 for both rear shocks (non avs).
55107 for the front left also (non avs).

Keep in mind you will have to modify the front non avs kyb shock to attach/secure/strap the avs sensor. I drilled a hole on mine the same depth as the pin attached to the avs sensor and it worked. I've read others simply put the avs sensor inside a ziploc bag and secure to the top of the strut. I'm attaching a
picture for reference.

I am new to Lexus. Can someone please explain to me what is AVS shock or strut?

I have 2007 GS 350 AWD and my rear left strut is leaking.
Also, should I replace just the left one or both?

Thanks.
