Default Neakers IS250 F-Sport Build

Hello All!! Just joining the forum, even though I've been creeping on it for several months now. I purchased my first Lexus in October as a birthday present to myself, after having my Wolfsburg Jetta for several years after college. Honestly the best purchase I've ever made, I love the car.

Here's a few pictures of my Jetta (that I still have and use as a DD for my 80 mile commute), with DIY mods, mostly with plastidip and tint films, replacing the grill, halo headlights, etc. nothing major:

And here's the "new" Lexus on the day I bought her (2014 Lexus IS250 F-Sport Obsidian Black, Black leather interior, gunmetal rims)

Now that I'm making the big girl bucks, I can mod the car with better parts, and more professionally. So far, all I've done is get it tinted, and had the tail lights done, and a sound system installed. I'm going to use this thread as a way to keep track of everything and see the progress/transformation!

5% tinted windows, tailights tinted with 3M film (now removed), and sound system:

-Vinyl wrap with Satin pearl white (sans roof, door mirrors) **Call me crazy, but I'm going to attempt this myself, we'll see how that goes!!!**

^+1 on the rear light tint...looks way better than when it was tinted 5%. And respect to the DIY.
There is another build thread (can't remember which one) with a Satin pearl white wrap...looks awesome i gotta saw.

any 19" wheel looks great on the IS. It's the perfect sizing for the platform.

I considered black, but my paint is black, and I dont want it to be "murdered out" if and when I decide to remove the to remove the wrap.

Those were my first choice, but i talked to the mfg. today, and they said the 10/+40 would probably rub on the rear, so Im probably going with the second option.

If you were doing 19X10 in the rear with a +40, you might be ok. If it was 19X9.5 +40 you would definitely by ok.
Honestly I think if you did the 19X10 with the right size tire you would be just fine.
Most run a 265/30 19 in the rear with a 19X9.5 rim. A 265/30 19 tire can fit a rim with a width of 9-10 inches...so you can put that tire size on your 19X10.
The sidewalls won't be as squared, so that will give you extra space near the fender, which is the place it would rub if it was going to rub anywhere.
My opinion (and just my own opinion) get the 19X10 rim that you want and use the 265/30 19 in the rear.

I went to a custom wheel shop yesterday and he suggested running a 19/8.5/235/35 in the front and 19/9.5/275/35 in the rear. I live in Houston and the roads are horrendous by my office, so I think I 30 profile might be a bad idea for that and for ride comfort. Is the setup he suggested odd?

To be honest, the 1st set are XXR wheels, and are pretty cheap in price. The other sets are Vorsteiner and Niche, so I'm assuming better quality with thr hugher price tags?

The Niche pricing isn't bad...you could also look at Verde. I never looked into Vorsteiner wheels, so I can't say.
To be honest the size he suggested for the rear is odd...it's really big. The front is a pretty common size for IS with that size front wheel. Not to mention that the overall circumference of the rear wheel will be bigger than the front. Not sure if your IS is AWD or not, but this would be important.

Also, the 30 sidewall is the percentage (people also say aspect ratio) of the thread width...so a 275/35 would have the same sidewall height as a 285/30 (give or take)...as I suggested a 265/30...clearly there is a big difference in tire size.
If you look at my signature you'll see I run a 235/30/20...basically it's like putting a rubberband around a cup (LOL!)...and even on the RSR Downs the ride quality is still pretty good. If I had to do it again I would go with the 19" staggered with the plus size fitment below.

Here's the skinny on the numbers and you can judge for yourself (this doesn't take into account your unique road conditions around your office):

Stock F-Sport Wheel specs
18X8 +40 225/40/18
18X8.5 +50 255/35/18

19 inch upgrade with staggered fitment (to keep the exact same tire circumference as the stock 18 inch wheels - no offset as that is wheel manufacturer specific):
19X8.5 225/35/19
19X9.5 255/30/19

19 inch upgrade with staggered fitment - with plus size on tires:
19X8.5 235/35/19
19X9.5 265/30/19

19 inch upgrade with staggered fitment - with plus plus size on tires:
19X8.5 245/35/19
19X9.5 275/30/19

After the plus plus sizing I wouldn't go any bigger as the wheel will be more than 3% oversized and that will make your speedometer really inaccurate and could affect braking performance/safety systems.
Just my opinion again...but with the plus size tires I think you will still enjoy the look and ride quality of the vehicle.

I agree with the 19x10 in the rear with 265-30s. This is what I'm running with RSR downs on my AWD with an offset of +42 and have never rubbed

Really it's just ride quality...more sidewall more cushion. In terms of appearance I don't think anyone will notice the difference between the plus size and plus plus size.
