Default New to me thread for recent owners

Based on another post, I am starting this thread and hope the new owners can share their experience and questions here. Existing owners can post the replies and I hope they will chose to ignore the questions and not respond with ... "go read the owner's manual" ... as it is understood. This thread may has the tendency to go all over the place. I hope the mods will give it some latitude.

Rattle box
I am going over, new to me 2011 450H, and found 3 rattle boxes in the tail end. One each behind the rear wheel and 1 in the middle. They are plastic shells with drain holes in them but I found sone pebbles which I had to shake out .

Previous owner, never removed the sticker from the passenger side rear side window, and it had dried out there. I had to resort to a blade to scrape it off.

Wow, never heard of rattle boxes, though my RX400h has constantly been a battle with noises from rear of car....

Let me correct myself ... the rattle sound was not heard by me seated in the driver seat.
The false panelling [esthetic or aerodynamic] seems like a collection box. For me the rocks/pebbles came out without removing the panelling, but I had to beat them out.

Default cockpit lighting issue

Did my first night time drive.

Set of buttons above the rear view are not lit up for me. Is there an back light in them?
SOS button lights up read and a fine green light is lit up near the mid trailing edge but all other buttons are dark [home link, light switches, moon-roof switches]

2010 RX350 - mine don't light up either. I couldn't tell you how many times I have turned on the map light trying to hit the home link button at night.

2010 RX450h... mine don't light up either, and I've had the same trouble in the dark with Map Light versus Homelink buttons.

Might be a bit cheesy, but there is always this option >>>
Amazon Amazon
(You could always cut one down and use just a very small piece on each button.)

OR... just use a small drop of this >>>
Amazon Amazon

OR... just a tad of this powder in a small drop of superglue on the button surface >>>

I traded away a 2008 Audi A4 Avant and that sucker had every single switch and control lit in red. I loved that! But, to use a totally overused phrase - it is what it is. Overall I'm happier with my 2015 RX 350.

Night time visibility of the top control pod is a miss for Lexus. Even when you turn the light on [any three] the beam of light travels downwards and does not light up the buttons.

Brightly lit pod would be an eye sore and distracting, but faint light would have been good.

Any one knows what is the purpose of the light green light in the middle trailing edge of the pod?

I thought it was a courtesy light illuminating the cupholder area of the center console.

There is middle (yellow brown light --courtesy light) and then two map lights (LEDs) but one faint green light ... smaller than the auto green light on the rear view mirror.

I will try to post a picture ... picture worth thousand words I guess.

New owners, please make sure you clean the lap belts with mild soap and water. Just did that last night.

Yep, the small green one is the one I am talking about too. Wait until its dark out, then look at where that light shines. It shines directly down onto your cup holders.

Default 12 Speaker Premium Sound- Subwoofer question

Hello, new owner of a 2014 RX350 for my wife. Since this thread is open for us newbs, I'll ask here! I've researched all over online and here on the forum but can't seem to find any specs on the factory sub (non ML). I believe it is 200mm or (round up to) 8", dual voice coil, but don't know what the ohm rating is, has anybody confirmed this? If the cover popped off, I'd just take it out and throw a meter on the terminals, but I understand it's not that easy to get to. Thanks in advance, appreciated.

Since the audio is specific to the vehicle, the spec may not be publicly available. Easiest place to get the information would be car stereo shops. If you would allow me to guess. I would say 4 Ohms. Car audio is generally lower voltage and high current application.

Dug in there yesterday, it's actually single voice coil, and 2.5 ohms according to my digital multimeter in case anybody else wants to know.....
