Default Convertible top problems

Hey guys I need your help I just purchased a passenger side motor for my sc ( see
picture)
Is there some pictures or a PDF showing how to replace that motor?
Also how can I get the convertible top codes?

Thanks in advance

I bet BGW might have the Factory Instructions to replacing the motor.

If not, here are some thoughts....

Do you know if the hinge you bought worked before they took it out? I think you may be better just replacing the entire assembly.

This is how I did it. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...etty-easy.html

If you decide to just replace the motor, you can just count the number of bolt holes on the new motor and remove those same bolts on the old motor. Since you have the entire hinge, you can use your phone to record how you remove the motor from the hinge. Just lay the hinge in the same position as it would be in your car and start recording. That way, you can always review what you did if something comes up.

As an FYI, you need some thread locker blue for the motor bolts.

can you remove the motor in the new hinge?

if so, figure out how to do it in your car.

let us know how the first step goes...

or, replace the entire hinge assembly.

Yes you can. I did it and remember it was pretty easy. However, I didn't write down the steps.

I think I opened the trunk like normal, and then just undid the wire harnesses and the bolts. I think I was surprised that I had the most trouble with the grounding bolt. (The wire with the ring on the end of it) And I was disappointed because I didn't buy any thread locker.

The button could be going bad but I'm thinking that some (all?) of the codes get cleared out when you turn off the car, so they may have been cleared before you got there.

You need a Toyota Specific code reader like techstream to read the codes. It is possible they are using a high end but not Toyota specific reader and couldn't see the codes.

What is most helpful is when you hook up techstream and try to run the top through it's cycles. That gives you a play by play of what is happening and will help you find your problem.

Would the top not work after you replaced the bad motor?

Update!!!!
i changed the passenger side motor( my thanks to club Lexus members)
buttoned everything back up hit the button and the top did as before whirring noise and then the top went through its paces .
the button on the climate control is kinda shaky and I think that could be the culprit when the top doesn't move.
after pressing the top button a couple of times the top will work!!!!

help guys
thanks in advance

I'll try that but should the button be loose inside the climate control?
and I'm still trying to figure out the whirring noise in the rear of the car, I just changed the motor and it still (or something)
is still making that noise (see video in my post)

thanks guys

When does the whirring occur? Just when the top is supposed to be running? If it occurs all the time, it could be the fan on your amp in the trunk.
